I don’t want him to leave, there is nothing solid stating that he is leaving and like the man himself said, he has 3 more years on his contract and the question isn’t even an issue at the moment because there is nothing there.

        Hypothetical or not – nobody

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

But it’s very easy just to say ” No I’m staying” but he’s finding that hard to say.

Which part of “I have a 3-year contract and the job here isn’t finished” do you think doesn’t translate as “I am staying”?

In all fairness he did say re: Liverpool if it did come in and was not just speculation he would take a look at it…

I dont think anybody (apart from the usuals) would begrudge him going on to a bigger club if he had the guarantee of some funds and a 3 year project.

However the likes of Villa and Liverpool wont provide this.

So as said above it is all just speculation and this question is a total non-starter.

Contract’s mean nothing these day’s other than Mr Whelan will receive compen, actually saying I’m not interested I’m stopping would be a far better way. So getting back to my original hypothetical question, who’s out there if he “does” decide to leave ?.

It would appear that no-one is too arsed about answering your hypothetical question.

I don’t know. Perhaps you should have a go at answering the question and impress us all with your foresight.

Sorry Sammy I don’t claim to have “impressive forsight” , that’s why i asked for other peoples opinion.

Maybe everyone else is as deficient in foresight as yourself and why they have not answered your question.

Let me re-phrase… 100% of people who have responded don’t believe he will leave, thus rendering the hypothetical question moot. Therefore, 100% of respondents don’t seem to want to spend time considering the alternative.

And I think I speak for everyone on that ;)

The clamour for Martinez’ services seems to be gathering pace.

Cause for reflection for a moment (Bobby) :

                    (1) We went into ‘this season with our strongest squad’ (Martinez)
                    (2) 15 HOME games in we had only beaten QPR at home – disgraceful.
                    (3) 8 defeats on the bounce (Messers Morgan /Wolves and Fernandez /QPR would have taken the matter in their own hands (Whelan did not))
                    (4) When all else had failed and we appeared dead and buried, one last throw of the dice (formation change from turgid 4-5-1 to 3-4-3)
                    (5) The last 2-3 months have arguably shown Wigan Athletic in a light never seen before

Arguably, the cause for reciprocation of loyalty is now greater than ever. Come on Bob, push Whelan to deliver close season on improving quality of playing squad, go deliver next season and take us to a top 10 (next level) to really put yourself in the shop window. Let us prove that this was not a 3 month one-off wonder. 3 successive games won AND counting (into next season …).

Real success next season would also make us more marketable to a greater number of candidates (if we are seen to show genuine ambition).
