It was due to bones, and bone-related dog foods providing high calcium diets.

All stopped when BSE appeared.

Crap thread from start to finish.
I think this one is about to go to the dogs.
Stop it Salford, or you’ll have LMB hounding you again.

Sorry to some on here, in the past I’ve got carried away with trying to do everything to help.
My desperation was a case of wanting the team do so much better and making myself believe our manager has what it takes,
Been today against my better judgement and can assure you that no way I will ever be asking fans to applaud that.
I really thought we could move on, kidding myself.
No more Wigan cup games with RM in charge, season ticket only, and I won’t ever be asking you to believe again.
Why can we never build? Why throw away our only chance of success? Why keep Boselli? Why play Boyce, our oldest player, if you’re supposed to be giving 1st teamers a rest? Why not play new signings? Why you still got a f….
I still believe we’ll stop up, but I do not believe we will ever improve under the current regime.
All the best to you.

Back to the initial post….

You’re asking a lot of questions, so I’ll throw them back at you:

Why do think we ‘can’t build’?
Why do you think we don’t concentrate on the cups?
Why do you think we’ve still got Boselli?
Why do you think Boyce played?
Why do you think one of our new signings didn’t play?
What would you class as improvement and who would be best do take us forward?

No wrong or right answers, but I, for one, would be interested to hear if you have an opinion on them.

Wasn’t Cockney Latic the only forum up and running from 99-04ish?

I know George had his site up around the same time but don’t remember a board on it. Even the official site didn’t have one.

Quite impressive that your still around.

#99302

I never had a board on my site, nor did the official site.

However – I’m not sure the original board was actually labelled “Cockney Latic”, as in the early days that was “just” the fanzine. The “board” was a “mail list”.

And here are some of its contributors before the Gillingham play-off at Wembley:

Well, well, well…

Mr Pom Pom has turned into Mr Giveup.

If anyone ever doubted that Wigan fans were fickle, here’s your answer.

Unbelievable, and pathetic. Grow up!!!

Good job this board or any board for that matter was going after the Canvey Island escapade
Actually, Cockney Latic DID have a message board then and there was quite a lively debate about where white dog poo had gone, you never see it anymore.

We generally congratulated Canvey on their win and got on with having a laugh – oh those were the days eh!! goodpost B)
yes we did, And i applauded Niel Gregory’s goal, I applauded their team off and i applauded their fans. The difference then was we knew Jewell was going through his transitional period in his first season. Not 4 seasons after and another cup debacle.

The fanzine was running a long, long time before the web site came about. It was online under the Cockney Latic banner as an extension of the fanzine in the late 90’s but I’m sure message boards and the rivals network blip was 98/99 onwards (I say blip, it did introduce another element of rivalry on a weekly basis with our next opponents, that has now disappeared).

I loved the whole Rivals network set up thought it really added something to posting on a message board.

Shame Sky in their infinite wisdom seemed to go about buying it up and shutting it down in a fairly short period of time.

Totally agree Salford, Rivals was excellent especially if you wanted to visit some of the more obscure clubs sites.

This is the best I can drag from the archives….

Cockney Latic 1998

None of the links work as I can’t be doing using my time to reload all the images and files…..anyway, this is the latest version you are on…… and it is about to get super charged (with a very slightly new look) as soon as we get through testing.

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

Jayt, did you have anything to do with ‘Latic Fanatic?’

No pal, I don’t think I had any input into that…. I remember it though.

I only got involved with Cockney Latic around 2002 helping out on the site, then ran it virtually on my own from 04/05-08/09, when the founders just seem to disappear.

I spoke to John then and took the decision to go it alone (away from SKY/Talk Sport/Rivals) just before SKY went and pulled the plug…

Myself and John now have contributions and help from Adz, Griff, Jonny, Duke, George, Mark and Julian (sorry if I’ve missed anybody) – without whom the site would be in a lot worse state.

Because of setting up my own business over the last 18 month or so, I have been forced to spend a lot less time on here. But things are very stable with the business now and so I will probably be able to start dedicating lots more time filling up the front end with more articles and try to get some money in to it to get some competitions running again and develop it even further.

John has been working very hard behind the scenes (the new archive and stats systems are coming along fine now, plus a bit of a new look will be seen soon as well) and I am still trying to get some other contributors to pitch in, hopefully over the next few months we’ll get back to normality…. might even see about an Annual (or more regular) Cockney Latic Fanzine….

Come on Jay. You know it makes sense.

(We may need pictures, and preferably some popup pages for some of our posters)

Has anyone else got a vision of Babis taking out his ‘Go Wigan Go’ plackard from cupboard and dusting it down again?

I’ve find it diffcult to comprehend how we have even won a game without a meet and greet.

To be fair, when I am setting up in the Supporters Bar there are still people meeting & Greeting, although it isn’t with the vigour of the end of last season.

Get with it guys, just remember the run we went on at the end of last season…. it was all because of that support.
