Hey Griff, why you calling Boyce, Di Santo, Martinez, Jones, McArthy, Rodallega etc liars?

You were and still are very critical of that, obviously critical of the hundreds who did it as well? Critical of the club, manager, chairman, chief exec for encouraging it. Is it any wonder anyone would lose belief if you’re the driving force of support?

As far as not happening anymore, you mean because I’m not coming on here to be ridiculed by you from behind your keyboard when I do. You’re right, doesn’t mean me and others go early to meet players, manager and for charity. You OK with that?

Hey Standish. You say dusting down again. Sadly you will have to wait until we’re cast adrift, look relegation certainties and odds on for relegation, I don’t feel the need when were not in the mire.. Thats apart from for charity, at which time I have a flag all the time. You or anyone else wants a picture, there are plenty. Or simply come and ask me for one, sure I’ll have one knocking about.

        Hey Babis!

It’s a message board, people take the piss, get over it.

I wouldn’t go so far as call them liars, but if you really think for one minute that they’re not just being a teensy-weensy bit polite and being careful to avoid any negative PR when they say how much the meet and greet helped them beat Arsenal away, for example, then you’re more deluded than I thought you were.

Me critical of the club? I think there’d be a line of CL window-lickers queueing up to dispel that myth.

Critical of you and your pom-pom brigade? Some of you, yes – I think it’s fine for kids and teenagers, but “grown” men…? Actually, all I ever said is that personally I wouldn’t do it, but fair play to those that do. Check back, you’ll see that’s the truth.

Hide behind a keyboard, me? Really? One of the few people who DOESN’T hide his identity on here? Jesus, I only dropped my seat number from my ID when me last moved boards because I couldn’t be arsed typing it in every time.

No mate, if it makes you feel better, you carry on waving your pom-poms at young boys half your age who are getting paid exceedingly well to work and perform to the best of their ability week in week out on the pitch for the football club that I support. That’s where I believe it’s important to give your support.

Hey now, there’s a concept – belief! Got yours back now have you, you fickle bastard?

Thanks for the offer, but no picture required. That bit was a figure of speech.

So, the reason for my fun poking:

        Your post…

‘Sorry to some on here, in the past I’ve got carried away with trying to do everything to help.
My desperation was a case of wanting the team do so much better and making myself believe.
Been today against my better judgement and can assure you that no way I will ever be asking fans to applaud that.
I really thought we could move on to top half.
I won’t ever be asking you to believe again.’

…does, sort of, hint at someone who will not be cheering the team on again, and who doesn’t expect others to do it. But now you’re saying you will – if the need arises.

        Make your mind up.

I’m not poking fun at you for your pre-match welcome for the players; it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and I’d rather do other things before a game, but, each to their own. What I am poking fun at however, is how you were all about cheering the team on, and then after a disappointing result (that’s all it was: disappointing – not catastrophic or season defining – disappointing) you throw the towel in like many of our other ‘fans’. I was alluding to an image of you, following the win on Tuesday, suddenly changing your tack.

        And lo and behold…

To be fair lads the win on Tue hasn’t to be treated as some sort of turning point but more of a banana skin avoidance ! We need to win on Saturday in the league and start getting some proper points on the board ! 8pts from the last possible 30pts is a little worrying ! There will be a meet and greet in The Brick prior to kick off for some of us on here and due to the commitment of the Brick M&G some of us will only be taking our seats 5mins into the game !

I’ll be at that M&G as that is more my ‘cup of tea’

(Do they serve tea in the Brick?)

To be honest, put my foot in it writing this. I admit I was disappointed at the team not following up last season, I hoped we would.
12 hour nights last night with some pillock drilling next door, so I’m losing it.

Griff, Pom Pom brigade as you say lasted what 3 months? You obviously don’t know me at all if you think my day at football simply involved that, did prior or does now. Rep with some of the lads I go with is very different, some I can’t tell you about on here but am willing to tell yourself.

I will be down early Saturday, but not for anything else than out with lads. I thought we were going to be relegated, I didn’t want to let that happen. It was one idea and everyone on Vital thought good idea so I pushed it and it turned out to be really popular. Far from all kids etc, you couldn’t be more wrong.

Ended up easy to do for me as I was and still am always down for 11 anyway, so it was giving up possibly 30 mins.

Short temper drops me in it and the number of times Ive lost my temper with football over the years and said things I regret is too many to list. Never stopped me going back, no matter what Ive said.

Only way I can say anything else is to you direct, waste of time trying on here when I can hardly keep my eyes open any how. Same with anyone else, you’re welcome to see me in anville, sams etc or at the match.
(Thats not a threat I mean to apologise)

Mate, I will repeat that I have no issue with what you did and fair play to you all for doing it but it’s not something that I would be interested in doing. And the nature of the beast is that this kind of thing lays you open to ridicule from the cynics, me inlcuded.

It wolld be lime someone writign a book, say, and then getting upset if those that can’t read or write choose to ridicule it in public. You can’t get upset, you just develop a thick skin and crack on regardless. ;)

I still maintain however, and always will, that your meet and greet initiative WAS NOT the reason we weren’t relegated, though I accept that the players and club appreciated the effort very much. If it were the case that your group had been the reason the players went on that run of effort/performance, then I’d be expecting the club to be asking some serious questions about their motivation. I’d have thought their salaries and contract of employment alone would have been sufficient motivation.

I really have no idea why, or for what, you are apologising, but there is absolutely no need for it.

If you’re not prepared to take stick, fairly or unfairly, this really is not the place to be.

You didn’t mention the fans inside the ground during the matches ! I am pretty sure that the fans when they got behind the team during those matches DID have a positive effect on their performances ! Just saying like ! ;)

To be honest, I consider that to be a given. Mind you, I do sit in the West Stand.
