Did anyone else get caught up in the massive crowd of Millwall fans going down wembley way after the game?
We went bay coach which stopped at the Blackbird inn about 20 mins walk from Wembley.
We needed to go back down Wembley way and up the steps to the main road and bear right. The police had blocked these steps off and instead we were Shepherded into Wembley Park Tube Station. They were chanting all sorts of songs and we quickly had to tuck our caps and scarves away, it was frightening. The police kept the crowd for about 15 mins in the subway before letting the fans run up the steps to the station.
We got in the station and sneaked out of an exit to the main road. :woohoo:
Straight after the game scarves were put in carrier bag, the lad’s shirt was tucked in, coat zipped up, flags off poles and folded up into coat pockets, poles left in stadium. It’s Millwall and I wasn’t taking any chances. We had to walk to Wembley Park and get on tubes/trains with them. Not a pleasant bunch of people.
Terrible really, considering we are a real family club.
I’m actually glad we are. Yes, over the years we’ve had our share of ‘lads’, with the Goon squad and what not. But most have grown up or out of that. Our support is very family and young kids based.
We should be seen as a breath of fresh air for the FA and Premier League.

Unfortunately, we still have our fair share, but nothing like those scum from South London.
Had a few close shaves before the game on tube to Baker Street and then in the pubs round there. Me and my mate heard some fans stood next to us, saying Wigan wouldn’t dare to come up here.
Never supped my pint so fast and adopted my cockney walk.

We got stuck in that queue as well.None of us were wearing any colours though.
When we got to the steps at the side of the tunnel into the station my Mrs blagged our way through the side gate explaining our 16 year old was about to faint.Kirsty played her part brilliantly and they let us up the steps onto the main road. :cheer:
It was scary though. One cavemen in front of us boasting how he’d “t**t” any Wigan scum he could find !!

garbage like this are Just bullies and cowards when all said and done they always have been and they always will be.I dont buy their rubbish image one bit basically been talked up in those illiterate books some of this rubbish publish from time to time.
A lone mate of my sons was fronted by a group of these ‘hardmen’ outside before the game and he basically stuck out his chin and said ” come on then hit me “and guess what none of them did.
It says it all really as all they do is pick on easy targets like women and children like they did at the iron bridge back in 2000.That was against ordinary supporters and bricks were thrown causing injury to some of our number.
Football hooligans like these are essentially inadequates who use the football arena to play out the pretence of being hard.It would seem the dreadful area of London they come breeds this type of individual but fair play To that brave lone Wiganer for standing up to them and proving what gutless cowards they really are.

So what did you make of the unpleasantness in block 502 yesterday Dave?

Didn’t see any. Was sat on row 5, near front. Great view. All I saw was millwall across the segregation giving it the wavey arms thing. Idiots. No trouble anywhere near us.
We were in 504, but a friend (who works for Latics corporate hospitality) was in 502 eith his young lad & was massively upset both by the behaviour of the Millwall prats and the unwillingness to get involved of the stewards.
To be fair it’s not normal stewards’ jobs to get involved with public order issues like that. They are often students or similar who are there to help people find their seats etc for a small payment.
There usually also are “support teams” (at the DW they’re called GRS (Ground Regulations Stewards)) who look after breaches of ground regulations and eject people, but on yesterday’s scale it should have been fast police involvement.
That’s just it though Garswood…… effing & blinding coupled with threats of violence absolutely breaks ground regulations. I’m not surprised they didn’t want to get involved, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have.

Yes we were right in the middle of it. Totally surrounded by Millwall. Reckoned beforehand most of them would go to Wembley Central…erm no.
Put scarves in pockets before we went out of ground. Told the Mrs to keep her head down, not speak (that’s hard for her…) and look glum…we’ll party later.
Like JRT said, got held outside Wembley Park for a while then all let into station at once. Onto train fine, they all got off at Baker Street or Kings Cross. We went onto Liverpool st to go onto Stratford.
No hassle in fairness. Listened into 1 cockney going on about Shaun Maloney was like Dennis Wise. He meant it as a compliment…not sure Shaun would see it that way
Like we’ve said before, keep your head down you’ll be ok, go looking for hassle you’ll find it…especially with that lot.
