He’s actually scared of the ball. I can’t think of anything he does well and we are going to get rolled over against Chelsea if he’s in goal, it could be another cricket score.
We could easily find a better keeper for free.

4 May 2010 at 12:12 am #31682Shocking keeper.
Gomez has talent but so frustrating. I want him to influence things and he has moments. I keep thinking he might turn into Bob’s best mate’s dad Mr Cruyff but faith running out.
4 May 2010 at 1:01 pm #31727“Gomez has been disappointing, I’ll give you that, but there’s a player in there trying to get out”
Griff – there’s a good player in me trying to get out too. I think at approaching 35, overweight & with knackered ankles its never going to happen but its as likely to happen as it is with Gomez!!! ;)
I know what you are trying to get at with bandwagin jumping when criticising certain players but both the guys No1 mentioned are not, & never will be, premier league quality players in a million years

With Stoikcovich and Scotland, I agree 100%. Well, 99% with Scotland.
With Gomez, I accept that the Prem is a little beyond him but I am not having that he’s as abject as some people too easily make out. At the end of one of our patient build ups yesterday, he threaded a ball through to Rodallega (I think) that very few, if any, of our other players woud have even seen or been able to pull off. Similarly, he tried a spectacular volley in the second half that I reckon most of our other players would have fallen over attempting.
It’s a shame that he has proved not to be quite up to it because he is the type of player that our current formation is crying out for, IMO.
