5 September 2009 at 3:09 am #8075I’ll wager that the real number of paying speccies was less than 11k, in fact I bet there were closer to 11,000 people actually in the stands (including freebies) than the gate they announced
5 September 2009 at 11:46 am #8085Bad thing this recession businessIt is. Folk have better things to spend their money on than sporting events – particularly when the fate of both sides is already sorted.
Prices need to be cut to attract people back – some of these bean-counters need to grasp that not only does 23000 at £10/£5 generate as much, if not more money as 12000 does at £16/£11, but it also creates a more intimidating atmosphere for the visiting side, meaning more home victories and a higher league placing, more success and more income generated. The Warriors v Leeds game being a prime example of what happens when you cut your prices to an acceptable level in today’s economic climate.

6 September 2009 at 7:53 am #8138Looking at the South, West and pittiful North Stand following I didn’t think there were that many on. Why teams would lie about an attendance and pay more tax though I have no idea.
6 September 2009 at 1:26 pm #8139mother feka ?? :?:
as ive said before in previous posts , i just call it as i see it
there is no point in anybody coming on here and taking the slash about crowd numbers when we get such a low turn out agianst manure ??
how many travelled to goodison , 4 maybe 500?2 seasons ago there was getting on for 20 thow for the same game , face it , the jcl’s have dropped off the bandwagon
im getting tired of the bickering between the 2 sets of fans , what does it matter ??
we have enough problems of our own without trying to big ourselfs up agianst a different sport for gods sake :!:
8 September 2009 at 5:08 pm #8322Surely not, it was only a couple of months ago Heinz shelled out and “bought” over 5,000 tickets for a Warriors game, no doubt at full price in an arm’s length transaction??
Or are you saying that was actually just a marketing scam dreamt up to avoid Wigan Warriors getting a sub 10000 gate?
8 September 2009 at 5:10 pm #8323I dont think its the JCLS i think weve lost a lot of fans that have come out of work!
As for heinz i heard they were in talks to sponsor us last year but we chose 188bet.
If they do pull out of both clubs it could be the first steps to pulling out of wigan for good! Lets not forget that theyve recently refused to put made in wigan on the beans!
