Nathan Jones (Luton) is the bookies favourite for the next gaffer and after a quick Wikipedia search I can see that the job he’s done is very impressive, But what if Luton do get promoted … surely Mr Jones would keep with the Squad he has been able to assemble in the season and a half as manager instead of starting all over again …
So who else is on the list
Michael Appleton
Alan Stubbs
Uwe Rosler
Gary Caldwell
Dougie Freedman
Karl Robinbson (who we should of gone for after Caldwell)Then at 25/1 is Mr Jerrel “Jimmy” Floyd Hasselbaink
I think the Wigan job is perfect for any ambitious manager. We proved last year that we are too good for league one and its only through several bad decisions at the top that we find ourselves in this position and back to square one, so a nearly certain guaranteed promotion from league one will look good on anyone’s CV.
Hasselbaink’s has the ambition to manage at the highest level, He took a big risk with the QPR job when at the time their board where going through managers like one of us lot going through a steak and ale covered in a healthy splashing of gravy … mmm.
But back to the point Hasselbaink plays attractive attacking football … something that we all would love to see from the stands and already has promotion experience in the lower leagues.
Don’t forget the man is a two time Premier League Golden Boot Winner … We can all see the potential Omar Bogle has and the experience Hasselbaink can pass on really could turn Omar into a real talent and a the same time get Grigg back on fire.
I’m sure he will still have connections at Chelsea so loan moves would be a great help next season.
He’s currently a free agent … the board will love that !
I’d love to see JFH take over as manager with Super Mario back at the club in a defensive coaching role.
Thoughts ?

10 May 2017 at 8:34 pm #158907That shortlist is a joke. And Karl Robinson has gone to Charlton.

Nigel Pearson – available
Jose Mourinho
Antonio Conte
Luis Enrique – available
Roberto Mancini
Pep GuardiolaCant afford any and none would come but why should that bother us
10 May 2017 at 8:58 pm #158910Wouldn’t fancy any of them.
There must be someone in league one who has done well with limited resources who would jump at the chance. Keith Hill maybe at Rochdale?
10 May 2017 at 11:32 pm #158912Keith Hill would be a half decent choice. He has done really well at Dale but would he chance a sideways move? Depends on salary I suppose.
10 May 2017 at 11:39 pm #158913One out of leftfield who has done an amazing job under terrible circumstances, Gary Bowyer at cesspool. I’m not inspired by the shortlist especially when Caldwell is on it. Surely the board cant be that stupid can they.

Last year’s squad needed butchering – it wasn’t good enough for the Championship. his mistakes were trying to change the system & buying players who either weren’t suited to that system &/or no better than the ones he’d pushed aside. I also don’t think that he handled the Morgan, Morsy & Pearce situations very well
I’d also argue that the butchering (or squad strengthening) should have gone further – he made no attempt to strengthen the forward line & was content to go with Grigg, Wildschutt & Jacobs with next to no proven (if any) back up. Common sense should have told him that there was a reason why Grigg & Jacobs had been sold/released by several Championship clubs between them.
He put too much faith in Power (who personally I didn’t think that much of at Lge1 level) also.In his defence, he wasn’t helped by bad or continuing injuries to James, Daniels, Gilbey

Why can’t we afford Nigel Pearson? The others in your list are just a pathetic attempt to win your point. But you don’t. May as well have added Zidane and Simeone.
But how do we know Pearson wouldn’t fancy it? I bet people said the same about Chris Hughton, and he actually applied for the job when we gave it to Mackay. Feckin idiots.
If not that Nigel, then Nigel Adkins. Available. Keith Hill went to Barnsley and it didn’t work.
I know, John Coleman at Accrington. Give him a stab at it….lol
