8 October 2018 at 10:30 pm #172324Totally agree….I don’t buy all this dumbing us down “happy with 21st” crap, happy clapper rhetoric. Beat 3 of the potential promotion contenders Villa/Stoke/Wednesday then downhill since,
Which Villa match did you watch Derek, I’m sure we lost to a late goal.
You are right however, we should be striving for higher than 21st, but safety will be the first aim for the club in this first season back in the Championship especially after last time.
8 October 2018 at 10:55 pm #172325No matter how much fuckin moaning you all do we are one bastard point from a play off spot, DESPITE losing to QPR and nob end.
Yes we are on a bad run but I totally believe there are no easy games this season, anyone can beat us and we can beat anybody.
I think you are being disrespectful to any team if you think we have a god given right to beat um, including those at the bottom. Would you swap places with Preston or QPR. Now toddle off and enjoy the international break and let’s come back busting with positivity. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!8 October 2018 at 11:29 pm #172326Not that bad of a run. Don’t forget good wins against Hull and Bristol City and a draw against Swansea in this run. Knob End are not as bad as their position either and think about it, we may have been shit but the Knobbers needed us to be down to ten, without our best player and they scabbed a penalty and a flukey own goal.
Won’t ever enjoy International breaks JR, they should be scrapped.8 October 2018 at 11:35 pm #172327Not that bad of a run. What a journey!9 October 2018 at 12:06 pm #172330Some people have the notion that this loss to Preston was a flukey, a lucky win a 1 off win for them but I don’t see it that way.
Preston passed it better, looked more of a threat going forward and got bodies behind the ball when needed, thier pen was dubious but it only reticfied the stone wall pen they should have had earlier in the game.
Now bare in mind, this was a team who leaked goals for fun 2 to 3 per game and they kept a clean sheet ??, why ?, because have no creativity in the side bar Powell. No one positive enough wide or in the middle so Grigg ends up like a spare prick at a wedding. Lots of grafters all chasing around and Gibson ?, I don’t know what’s wrong with him he needs his eyes tested. He couldn’t hit a 10yard square ball wirhout you holding your breath.
For the problem is the squad as a whole lacks in different types of players. God only knows what Cole said wrong in his short time here.
In what little I saw when he came on he looked ok. Cook prefers solid, reliable, get stuck in, run around alot type players but you need 1 or 2 Powell’s of this world who can change a game when it’s slipping away.
As for Robinson ?, I’m sure he’s a very good player, he proved that in his first game. But since then he looks sh:t scared going forward as he’s no confidence in anyone filling in the gap he leaves.I know I keep harking on about it but this takeover has been going on for 14 months or more. Wtf they after ??, If this had of happened in June and funds given I’m pretty sure a play off place would have been acheviable. Bar 3-4 clubs this Leagues not all it’s cracked up to be.
9 October 2018 at 7:11 pm #172347So when do england play donny?
9 October 2018 at 8:58 pm #172352Play whenever they want but qualifiers for euros and world cup could be played in the closed season when those competitions are not held.
Other than that revert to midweek international fixtures only.9 October 2018 at 10:17 pm #172353Play whenever they want but qualifiers for euros and world cup could be played in the closed season when those competitions are not held.
Other than that revert to midweek international fixtures only.So when do players recover from fatigue / unjury if the close season is filled with internationals
9 October 2018 at 11:00 pm #172354When do they recover in world cup and euro season’s?
Ok if that’s a no goer then just play them in midweek.
Can’t play many in midweek because of Champions League.
So it’s money again that forces the international breaks.
Champions League could of course scrap group stages and be for champions only but that wouldn’t suit.
Everything revolves around money.9 October 2018 at 11:48 pm #172355Play whenever they want but qualifiers for euros and world cup could be played in the closed season when those competitions are not held.

Fatigue????? C’mon, they do 90 minutes work a week, and plenty do less than that. They are ultra fit young men, how can they possibly get tired with that workload.
As for injuries, they happen throughout the season, in training and in the close season anyway. It’s funny how the poor little players can travel miles and miles to earn millions for their clubs for CL games during the season, but for ten a penny internationals we need to have a break from the proper football.
All internationals should be played midweek during the season and if it means changing the Euro set up then so be it.10 October 2018 at 2:20 am #172361So they meet on a Monday, play Wednesday?
When do they train, travel, prepare??
10 October 2018 at 2:43 am #172364Off on the Sunday, travel on the Monday, train on the Tuesday, play on the Wednesday, day off on the Thursday, train on the Friday, play again on the Saturday.
It’s still not a full time job and would only be every month or so.
It never did any harm in the old days and we were more successful.10 October 2018 at 2:54 am #172366The amount of muscle injuries would be through the roof
10 October 2018 at 3:05 am #172369The amount of muscle injuries would be through the roofMuscle injuries???? Bert Trautmann carried on playing with a broken neck, and didn’t our own Harry Lyon get his injured leg strapped up only to return to the pitch later in the match and score a hattrick.
Players are too mard these day, they need to man up a bit.10 October 2018 at 3:35 am #172371Totally different game nowadays.
I agree that international friendlies are rubbish though, but breaks for qualifiers etc are needed.
