But who would want it after what has just happened is Steve Bruce available
Well we’ve signed Christ so next step the third coming of Bruce
Seriously though, he would sort out the defence. The football won’t be pretty but beggars can’t be choosers
26 January 2023 at 8:34 pm #198145Whoever comes in will need to be a tough bastard who can get a tune out of this squad – clubs who go through 3 managers in a season dont have a good track record for staying up.
That said, getting a tune out of a squad that are almost all out of contract in June and almost all not likely to get it renewed will be even tougher. Zero motivation for them to bust a gut.
26 January 2023 at 8:35 pm #198146Spot on Leyland but I’m sure we have someone lined up ,well I hope we have
26 January 2023 at 8:45 pm #198148LOOKING LIKE maloney it is then the club want him according to wigan today
26 January 2023 at 8:48 pm #198149Maloney with Ben Watson has number two I wonder both where at the game together
26 January 2023 at 8:53 pm #198150Doesn’t matter who they bring in. If the owners are not prepared to back them in the transfer window they are going to fail.
26 January 2023 at 9:07 pm #198151If big if maloney does get the job going to be very hard to get anyone in with what little time in window remains anyway
Unless Kelly has players in mind which I’m not sure about as well
Never know maloney might have people in mind if it’s not too late
I fancy caulker and azeez will spit dummy out now26 January 2023 at 9:14 pm #198152Another big if where is graham jones these days would he be maloneys number two
That would be interesting if it did happen26 January 2023 at 9:51 pm #198153But thinking about it I think we need experience which unfortunately maloney will lack
So wilder would be a good shout26 January 2023 at 10:16 pm #198154Whoever’s got 4 days left and that’s if their named in the morning. It turned out a job too big for Kolo but give the club a little credit, they got it so wrong but at least they acted rather than let it go down without a whimper.
I still say Warnock simply becauseç he can perform miracles with what’s at hand. He’s saved the bacon of many a club without spending. Can you imagine we get Maloney in and it doesn’t workout we could have spent about £6-£8million on 3 managers nearly full contracts but hardly a penny on players.
Looking at the squad, Gelhardts gone to Sunderland, and no sign of any incomings I personally feel that the writings already on the wall, were simply cutting our cloth in prep for next season
26 January 2023 at 10:34 pm #198156Odds are here, Shaun Maloney odds on fav….

27 January 2023 at 1:06 am #198158Another big if where is graham jones these days would he be maloneys number two
That would be interesting if it did happenJones is doing rather well at Newcastle so don’t see him as an option.
I’d go cap in hand back to Richardson as I suspect he’s the only one who can get anything out of this lot of players. If I was him though I’d be responding with the middle finger.
My money is on Rob Kelly till the end of the season. Cheapest option since there can’t be any money left in the manager budget.
27 January 2023 at 6:18 am #198159Did anyone see the clip of our pre match warm up against Luton? Players just left to their own devices, not a coach in sight. Reminded me of Steppes FC back in the day in the South Lancs Sunday League. Proper amateurish. Maybe one of the final nails in the coffin
27 January 2023 at 8:30 am #198163I personally feel the club sadly got it oh so wrong with Kolo Toure’s appointment and have acted fast which when all said and done it’s the right thing to do.
I backed Kolo when he arrived and and was thinking, well it’s not his side so Jan will be the telling time but it was clear early on the field he was way way way off the mark but as a fan you back him like we did with Martinez to turn it round.Even a bit of improvement would have done us as fans but it was quite the opposite.
Martinez had a similar task, clearing the decks then rebuilding a squad but let’s face it, Richardson got no money and Kolo seems to have faced the same problem.
I still say the club wanted Ya Ya and he sold his brother to us because without that he’d have never got to the interview table.
I think lots will agree what’s needed right now is an EXPERIENCED manager for 6 month who’s possibly seen this before and we can then reasses in the summer when we know what division were in.
Whether is a Warnock, Bruce I don’t know but someone who can try and get the best out these players in the little time we have left this season.
16 players are out of contract and not one with 6 months to go have entered into any kind of extension negotiations. You might say well their not good enough but I still find it strange that not a one has even been mentioned of staying say like Lang and Pearce did.
If rumours are correct the Maloney will be announced at the new man in charge now my biggest fear is, he tries to instill the Martinez way with a bunch of players who are technically not good enough to pull it off.
We certainly will fail with the 3 at the back and wingbacks, midfield taking the ball and playing it out everytime from the back.
Right now what these players need is a good old fashioned manager nothing more. Someone who can instill a bit of belief in them and the players then believe this season can be saved. It’s too late in the day to be coming with a Barcelona approach far too late I just hope that’s not the case.People can laugh but my No1 choice would have been Neil Warnock on a 6 month contract with a big stay up bonus and players alike.
I pray this isn’t the same scenario were none football minded owners employ yes men on the board or the board are kept totally in the dark.
If it is Maloney he will have roughly 3-4 days before the window shuts. Im praying we don’t bring in 4-5 Scottish players when 4-5 of ours are up there to fcukin start with.
And if the next manager doesn’t keep us up does he get the chop ?. Imagine, 3 managers in 1 season and paying off nearly all their deals ?,They’ll be queuing out the door next interview day knowing a few bad results they’ll be getting a lump sum, paid on shit performances.
So is the board going to address the fans and be open and interact like that promised at the beginning? Embrace us with a 1 to 1 ?
Or
Is Branningan going to repeat himself and say
“Theres nothing to say” -
