I don’t like word ‘Fan’ as it is short for fanatic, and suggests someone who is fanatical in their support. Usually those who refer to themselves as ‘a fan’ are antyhing but fanatical in their support.

If a large percentage of this forum is anything to go by, it’s short for fantasist.

Chill out, it’s just a joke!

5 or 6 competitive games a season is not my idea of VFM. I know lads who are warriors season ticket holders, but miss several home games because they will be over with after 15-20 mins.

I’ll admit I hate those type of games but no matter how bored I am at these I’ve never been as bored as I was on Saturday and Tuesday. The fact that I don’t recall the only “highlight” shown on Sky Sports from the Brentford game has led me to believe that I did indeed fall asleep.

Games against the lower sides in rugby league at least normally have the odd full length try or cracking team try to wake you up. Saturday and Tuesday had fuck all.

I’m not turning this into a rugby v football debate because there’s no point, but I’m pretty sure I’d have had more enjoyment from a chess match than our last two games at home and that is the problem that we have at the minute. We have next to no creativity whatsoever.
You just have!

I was sat there at all our recent draws, hoping and praying we would nab a winner, whilst at the same time hoping even more, that they wouldn’t do us late on.
How the hell can you say that if your team is winning by 40 points you are sat at the edge of your seat hoping you might see a full length of field try. I’m sorry Egg but your comparison is nothing short of a big load of horse dung.

Well I hadn’t, but go on then let’s run with it.

Where did I mention that I sit on the edge of my seat in a 40 point win? I openly stated that I hate those types of game as they bore me. The difference between those and the two games served up last week are that whilst I sit there bored and wishing I was in a million different places, there will be the odd piece of brilliance that will capture my attention. Sometimes it isn’t even from a Wigan player as there could be a consolation score that is sheer brilliance. Whilst the game as a contest is dull there are plenty of scores that will occasionally entertain even if some are a case of men v boys.

The two games last week were dreadful. There was nothing from us and nothing from either Brentford or Millwall. We could still be playing either game now and it would be 0-0.

What I’m getting at, is that IMO (which will obviously differ from 99.9% of people on here hence why it is pointless discussing) a poor game of rugby league will always better a poor game of football simply because you will always get that moment that grips you slightly.

So just to clarify, a supporter is only a “supporter” if he attends every game??

For what its worth I will be attending the Fulham game also!

Pretty much, yes. Certainly every home game, if you can. Not just when it suits you. You think the team only needs “support” on the occasions where you think it’s going to be an entertaining game?

Stick to the rugby, mate. Supporters like you, we don’t really need.

It’s not worth much at all that you’re attending he Fulham game. We all are, obviously.
The shite we are being served up with at the moment we are lucky anyone’s turning up. We shouldn’t be adopting a holier than thou superior attitude telling folk to stay away.

Circumstances have dictated I’ve only been to 2 home games this season myself but I’m a supporter of Wigan Athletic and no one can tell me otherwise.

Folk will turn up despite dross being served up when you’re in the PL because most weeks you’re playing against decent teams with World famous players who they also want to see. It’s a bit different in the Championship especially when your at the wrong end of the table.

Not everyone has an endless pot of money and they aren’t going to part with what they have got if the end product isn’t in some part entertaining.

We have sat through a great deal of shite over the last 6 years.Credit to anyone who has turned up on a regular basis and not just every match.

Some of us prefer this league to the Premier Greed is Good League. Couldn’t stand it in there.

You must have really been pissed off for those 8 seasons then????

So was I for a great deal of it. Not because we were in it though – just the struggle we had to stay in it especially under Martinez.

However I’d sooner be at the wrong end of the PL than where we are now.

            Hopefully things will soon improve.

Learn to read. I’m talking about people who CHOOSE not to bother coming simply because they think it might not be entertaining. That is NOT supporting your team.

And no-one can tell me otherwise

            Actually I can read – it’s comprehension I may have a problem with. :P

He can pick and chose when he wants to go to whatever game he feels like going to. What has it got to do with any of you lot, or your opinions of how good a supporter he is? You don’t have to attend matches to be a fan. There is no code book or set’s of rules as to qualify as a supporter. Fucking hilarious some of these posts. He has a voice and has a right to air his views like everyone else whether he goes or not.

Wigan Athletic fans club mafia on here, some more than others. If you have a different opinion you are a rugby, Man Utd or Liverpool fan. Some of you need to take your heads out of the sand and try to use your averagely small brains to to realize that you are just another person with an opinion and barracking, bullying and name calling just confirms that. The ones that think their opinion is more valid than others resort to these 3 things, a few in particular and just confirms that you are insecure and cowardly.

I sorta agree with you Yosser, but if you want to make public statements on a forum mainly frequented by staunch latics fans, that you have stopped watching the tics because they are not playing well, expect to get some stick from the die hards. Particularly if you also bring the chubsters into the equation. It certainly ruffled my feathers up, so much so I felt the need to respond.
I would never think of trying to be a cyber bully, like some posters on here get the kicks from being, but by the same token I will defend my principles and speak my mind thank you very much.
