11 January 2017 at 12:36 am #153999At £45 a ticket and the chances of it being on TV being very high, only the most loyal fans or the very rich ones will be in attendance for this one, which is a shame.
All the other clubs seem to charge a very reasonable figure for FA Cup ties in January – why is it that Man Utd feel the need to continually fleece supporters?
I showed my loyalty to Wigan Athletic last Saturday along with the other 3500 faithful.
Fuck the EFL

They know they’ll sell 70,000 tickets no matter what.
11 January 2017 at 12:58 am #154001They sell the tickets because they force their adult ST holders to enrol in an auto payment scheme for all FA Cup ties. If their ST holders don’t pay for an FA Cup ticket, their ST is deactivated for the following league game, and not allowed to buy tickets for away fixtures and cup finals.
Thank fuck Sharpie hasn’t adopted that draconian approach or we’d be playing Brentford with three stands empty!

It’s a great idea if you get a big tie or you’re in Europe but if you draw us then it’s crap.
11 January 2017 at 1:16 am #154004What you need to remember though is that unless Man Utd draw a top 5 premier league side at OT, then a fair percentage of their ST holders, given the choice, would probably not attend.
The fact is, they don’t get a choice (well they do, but it comes with consequences).
In a way I feel sorry for their fans. If they hadn’t shelled out close to £50 to see them turn over a very poor Reading side in a one-sided affair that was played at lunchtime on TV, they’d be banned from attending the home match against Liverpool.
11 January 2017 at 1:52 am #154009I’ll be there, first time at OT never bothered previously due to stupid prices but probably be a while before we get the chance again.
Another one ticked off the list at least.11 January 2017 at 1:58 am #154010What you need to remember though is that unless Man Utd draw a top 5 premier league side at OT, then a fair percentage of their ST holders, given the choice, would probably not attend. The fact is, they don’t get a choice (well they do, but it comes with consequences).

You can opt out of certain ties as my mates at work do it.
11 January 2017 at 2:20 am #154011They can opt out of EFL ties. They cant opt out of FA Cup.
It explains why there were 10,000 empty seats tonight for EFL semi-final at £37 a ticket, whilst the ground was full for a 3rd round FA Cup tie against Reading at £45 a ticket.

Aah. Knew they had opted out of some.
11 January 2017 at 3:19 am #154014I’ll be going to OT just like I’m going to Burton Satdy.
One game is costing £24 for ticket and £14 for coach therefore £38 dabs. There will be at least 2- 21/2 hour journey to and from the game and a ground that will have maximum 5,000 on.
The other game will cost £45 for ticket and a couple of quid petrol money as 4 of us will be going in one car. The journey will be around an hour to and from ground if you park in the right area and there will be 70,000 on.
OK I’m fortunate, I can afford to watch us play away, however, which one of the above seems better value for money……the Man Utd game or the Burton Albion game?.
Having said that, one game we have a chance of winning, the other will see us getting the usual 4 or 5 goal whipping. :(
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!11 January 2017 at 12:14 pm #154015I just can’t see Burton scoring 4 or 5 past us !!!
11 January 2017 at 12:39 pm #154016If it’s Saturday I’ll go. Can’t if it’s Sunday

What a journey!12 January 2017 at 12:08 pm #154040We’ll be going – 3 of us.
12 January 2017 at 2:19 pm #154041A few points.
We will be going, my lad and I (ST holder and we were there for Forest, if anyone needs to know that FFS!). He is very excited, he may never get another chance to watch Latics at Old Trafford. When the draw was made the wife made rumblings about coming too, I was glad when I heard the price of the tickets! There’s no way we’d pay 2 x £45 plus whatever the robbing gets charge for kids. It will be just me and him on the rattler, make a day of it. However I feel for a family of 4 who all want to go as followers of WAFC.
It is with this in mind that I don’t think we’ll get many floaters or families coming, which is a shame as we took loads to City in our 2-1 win at reasonable prices, televised on a Sunday.
I believe prices for United v Reading were £37-£45 but subsidised by Madjeski so they only cost the supporters £30. That’s the only way we’ll take 2000 + if Sharpie agrees to this.
Ultimately this is where football is now, the likes of United are dictators. No offers & no respect for their supporters whatsoever. You must pay for FA Cup tickets as part of you being allowed to have an already expensive season ticket. You can opt out of the league cup but if you points are lost for away matches then add Europe in. You’re basically working for United.
Why anybody would want to support a club like that I’ve no idea.
The price of attempting success
