None of us really know, but I would say he has definitely had one kick in the teeth. Openly saying he was building his team round Catts, only to see him sold.
The team Martinez took over this season is a totally different team to the one he would have had should our leader not have sold half the team. Wonder how Bobs team would go on if these lads were in:
Palacios, Cattermole, Heskey and Valencia.
Or if Bob was given the funds from these sales, reckon he would be doing better with £40m to spend?
Whelan wants to do everything on the cheap. A new manager at a new club and the first thing he sees is the best player walking out the door. May be this has finally got to the players, knowing that should they do well they will just be sold. Rumours already about Figg going in January, so what’s this doing to the dressing room? There must be a great atmosphere knowing youre in the shop window and no matter what will recieve no support from your boss. Knowing that your boss rather than wanting you to stay, wants you to go. Knowing that players are being shown the door purely down to wages and thinking, am I on too much and will I be shown the door next.
Time Whelan stood up and made himself heard. ”Nobody is for sale and the manager has my backing” or walk away. Anybody can run the team by selling its assets, if you dont want to back the manager get out and stop the pretence.

I go to Latics because it’s a way of life , and as long as we get the occasional win & continue to annoy ” the big boys ” who gives a stuff about entertainment.
Football , entertainment , when did that happen ? :?
Don’t be upsetting the blinkered brigade. You should go to watch Latics even if you have just had a heart attack. No matter how bad we are and how depressed you are made to feel, you should still be there. In fact, you should be watching the reserves home and away and if you use the Gym, you should switch to DW. You will still not be a proper fan until you take a solem oath always to wear blinkers. lol
I watch football for entertainment. Or at least i used to, have had no entertainment at football this year.
And yet as your signature , or whatever it’s called underneath your posts , says you’ve supported Latics from non league through the divisions.
I think someone is telling porkies. If you’re finding it hard to watch us this season , what must have you have thought about some of the crap we’ve had to endure over the years. I bet you disappeared faster than you can say ” bloody rubbish Gavin ” !!!!
Early days we couldn’t afford players wages, so I held no grudge to the club and not only went, organised charity runs to help pay the bills. If however, the players had been on more in a week than I earn a year and despite receiving £100m in one season off tv and letting our best players and manager leave, I would have run a mile. Just like I have done now.
