There have been many times over the years where I have thought “Sod it. I can’t be bothered anymore…..”

And then there I am at the next game. All fresh and dandy.

My recent mis-givings run deeper than the club. It’s the Premiership in it’s entirety that is making it hard for me. I mean, all the controversy and bull that surrounds it. I DO allways feel that Latics are always on an uphill ‘treadmill’ and it’s only a matter of time until they drop off. And if we did/do, the pundits and press would be coming out with the following:

“It was always only a matter of time”

“They did well to last so long…..with their poor support.”

“They’ve had their 5 minutes of fame. Well, 5 seasons, actually.”

“They were always against it, coming from a rugby town”

      Blah, blah, blah…………..

They’d dismiss us like dogs*it on yer shoe.

And this is the reason why I do ACTUALLY want us to stay up. Simply because it sticks one really big finger up to them all.

I don’t give two hoots what the players are on. Yes, they are all overpaid, and there are far too many mercenaries. But eventually, it will have to stop, as the game will end up without a pot to pee in. ALL CLUBS have seen their fans drop off, even United have matchday availability, now. (Unheard of a couple of years ago) I’ve also heard stories of flailing sponsorship for the major competitions.

When the debtman comes calling, at least Wigan, who have been run with necessary frugality (going off the accounting) and will live to fight another day. On their OWN terms.

As for this season, whether we stay up or not………..que séra.
