We’ll find out this afternoon when they play a friendly at Leigh Sports Village.
I’ll have a wild guess that the following will be a larger number than the away following in the 257 for the pre-season friendly at Fylde, or even the 410 that attended the Southport v Wigan friendly.
But then again, Fylde and Southport are so far far away – the cost would have been astronomical.

They were good turn outs to watch our youth team. How many watch your youth team?
Champioship side, Leigh Centurions claimed an emphatic victory over an young Wigan outfit in their first match of 2013.
The same fixture this time last season produced a much more competetive fixture, but the Warriors were again unable to claim a win despite fielding a stronger squad which included debutant Scott Taylor.
It didn’t take the Centurions long to stamp their authority on the game with Matt Gardner crossing little before the ten minute mark to open the scoring. Forward, Sam Hopkins then took a short ball to power over and give his side a ten point advantage.
Full-back, Greg McNally had a try ruled out for offside from a chip over the top, but Matt Gardner scored again shortly after to symbolise Leigh’s dominance.
Steve Maden then gave the Centurions a 20-0 lead at the interval despite Wigan protests to referee, Rob Webb.
They started the second half in the same fashion they played the first, but Simon Finnigan was unable to plant the ball successfully after it was touched by a Wigan player in-flight.
The Warriors were penalised on the Centurions attack but Chris Rowe spilled another impressive short ball from half-back, Martyn Ridyard.
Ridyard then booted a 40-20 which again allowed the home side excellent field position which was converted into points by new signing Sean Penkywicz who scrambled over on the last.
Ryan Brierley then claimed the next try but his half-back partner, Martyn Ridyard was unable to add the extras and take the score to 32-0.
Jamie Doran then scored a mere consolation for the Warriors which was converted by Ryan Hampshire to make the final score 30-6.
Of which about 1,000 were supporting the Wigan Youth Team.
That’s not strictly true though is it? Seven of the thirteen who started the match are in the Wigan Warriors first team squad.
Neither the Fylde nor Southport game contained a single Wigan Athletic Fist Team Squad member. It really was the kids.
None of them will actually play though.
When it says stronger squad BTW it means as opposed to last year when they lost 40-0 and not compared to Leigh.
I’m sure there’s one or two who’ll get a game. But, that’s not the point Egg. The point is Lord Of The Pies is saying it’s Wigan RL’s Youth Team. It’s not.
If the Fylde or Southport game consisted of Pollitt, Fyvie, Jones, McManaman, Golobart, Lopez etc, then it would be the same. They didn’t. The first team were away at the time so the squads for the two games consisted of kids few people had heard of.
