Dress it up whatever way you want, but the FACT is the best part of 5000 home supporters went AWOL today.
Care to explain where they were Fatty?[/quote]
Take each match as they come if you want, my pimply faced egg chasing, ellgren shirt wearing, offseed shouting, popped bellied wazzuck. I’ll do the maths at the end of the season thank you, when all the games are taken into consideration.
I would also like to know were all you telechubbies were hiding when your cherry and shyte, coke snorting lazooms were playing this match:-
Wigan Warriors 42 30 London Broncos DW Stadium 12608
Then wobbled down to the DW for this match:-
7/09/2012 20:00 Wigan Warriors 18 v 26 St Helens DW Stadium 21522
That’s unless St Helens brought nearly 9,000 fans. B)
This was the week after Wane had right royally fecked up with his selection for the game at Widnes, and there was a backlash from the fans – you know that because you and your mates had a right old giggle about it on here. London probably brought 8 fans, leaving 12600 home fans.
Compared with the final home game when the League Leaders shield was presented, and there was so much demand for tickets, that part of the North Stand was made available to Wigan fans. Saints brought about 1500 to that game by the way.
Generally crowds increase when there is success. I’m sure you will be able to recall the crowd at the DW in Dec 2004 when Gillingham were the visitors, and then compare it to the crowd in May 2005 when Reading were the visitors – did Reading bring the extra 11,000?
Mmmm so the Worriers finish top of their (Mickey Mouse) league and average 12000 ish (home fans), thats with `success`
So if they ave a shit season expect 6000 fans.
Pies stop chatting bollox mate, rugby crowds this season ave been embarrassing no matter which way you wrap it up.
does any one else think that lotp is fighting a one man battle here. polishing the brown stuff, urinating in the wind, call it what ever you like. he/she is brainwashed by years of bull from the rfl & his/her rugger league club propaganda machine going into overdrive. not to mention the usual bigoted/racist/xenophobic chat they have in the vault at certain “labour clubs”, whilst their whippet stands guard outside!
Iv’e been thinking of new names for your club seeing as you like a good old Americanized team name change here and there:
Edge hall hedgehogs
wigan willoughboobies RU
Gerrum on side geko’s RU
Greater manc meat n prayter’s RU
or you could push the boat out and call yourselves scholes scorpions RU, that name has a certain “sting in the tail” don’t you think
And another from our lodgers with a serious inferiority complex about all sports really

Re: Would you follow Wigan Rugby Union?
We as fans need to cut back on the rhetoric and deal with reality. Our sport, rugby league, is dead as a professional entity.
Don’t get me wrong, it will stumble on for the remainder of the Sky deal, but anyone looking on objectively can see the games in terminal decline. If your a league nut, enjoy pro league while it last as we are heading for amateur status by the end of the decade.
The Challenge Cup has already been ruined, it’s now a BBC schedule filler, **** the clubs and fans if it messes with the league structure, so long as the BBC can have a couple of afternoon games rather than a Fools and Horses re-run.
The Sky puppet master likewise are using the game as a schedule filler, there’s rarely much investment or promotion outside the Grand Final itself, ironically a game that destroys the credibility of the previous 27 Super League games.
When you throw Sam Tomkins into the mix, the last big hope as a mainstream superstar for the sport, with his inevitable move to Union in a season or two, it’s not looking good.
Increasingly Rugby Union is looking like football’s Premier League launch in 1992, the product isn’t at it’s best, but the money and media are on board, it’s only a matter of time before they attract the biggest stars on the field, coaching teams, and management to run the game.
Wigan Warriors have a stark choice to make, do we embrace Union and attempt to become a force in a sport that can match our ambitions, do wevrevert to amateur status, or worst of all, do ourselves, Saints, Leeds and Wire remain pro, create a huge gap between the haves and have nots, and potentially put our collective selves in financial strife attempting to pay “big” bucks without the necessary income.
Whatever the case, this discussion will return regularly between now and the inevitable collapse of the pro game, there will be plenty of points of view, but I’m not kidding myself thinking we have much chance of keeping what we have, nevermind expanding the game.
That chance has sailed away, we either think ahead or get taken down like other big companies such as JJB, no let any fool you into thinking the sport is untouchable, we’ve already seen with Bradford they were hours away from going ut of business, I’m also aware at least four other Super League clubs are on the brink of extinction, the RFL are now in fire fighting mode.
And to think, we have a World Cup on the horizon, expect the RFL to pronounce it the making of the sport. In reality we should be worried this uneeded financial burden doesn’t bankrupt the whole sport.
Sorry for such a doom laden first post, but I’m sick to the back teeth of this sport sleep walking towards disaster, it’s time we listened to people like Bilko who are considering walking away. I just hope the club I’ve supported for all these years doesn’t insult my intelligence by pushing more hyped up bull to my inbx telling me how this or that league game in unmissable, when in reality it’s meaningless.
IL, Wigan Warriors and co, take the initiative or YOU are just as much to blame for the destruction of this sport as the RFL.

The lad actually seems to talk a lot of sense there, and I don’t see much evidence of an inferiority complex at all.
I’d like to see you string together such a lucid and literate post rather than just trot out the same inane gibberish, day after day after interminable day..
I speak facts, no need for a downton abbey-esque, long and winding story
Yeah, you’re right. Can’t compete with these facts of yours:
does any one else think that lotp is fighting a one man battle here. polishing the brown stuff, urinating in the wind, call it what ever you like. he/she is brainwashed by years of bull from the rfl & his/her rugger league club propaganda machine going into overdrive. not to mention the usual bigoted/racist/xenophobic chat they have in the vault at certain “labour clubs”, whilst their whippet stands guard outside!

Edge hall hedgehogs
wigan willoughboobies RU
Gerrum on side geko’s RU
Greater manc meat n prayter’s RU
or you could push the boat out and call yourselves scholes scorpions RU
So based on that very long winded theory, the DW will be packed to the rafters for soccer matches if tickets are either free or very very cheap.
So based on your theory of it being a cost issue, we can look forward to a 20,000+ crowd for the visit of Bradford, when tickets are just £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. With it being half-term, you cant even use the “school night” excuse not to be there!
That would be depend on whether you are someone who knows something about football or whether you are an infantile cretin who is ignoring facts in a vain attempt to avoid looking even more stupid than you already are.
You were quoting the differential between two league crowds, no mention was made of any cup ties. I see now you’ve lost that one, you are attempting to change the subject.
If you are suggesting that a cup game against a team three leagues below featuring a virtual reserve team compares to a Premier League game then you really need to read up on your supposed subject matter. Oh well time to educate you again….
Carling Cup ties have been sparsely attended throughout football with many clubs suffering greatly reduced attendances
For example, Southampton, a Premier League team from a city 4 times the size of Wigan posted a sub 10,000 attendance in the last round, Sunderland had nearly 25,000 empty seats in an earlier round and even the current league champions had 20,000 empty seats in the last round despite offering tickets at discounted prices.
The conclusion again is that cup ties attract at best half the crowd of a league game, apart from a handful of globally supported mega football clubs who lock their fans into mandatory cup tie schemes.
You’re not very bright are you lord of the pies.
PS I’d expect you to accuse someone of being long winded seeing as you couldn’t manage a five line post without needing to use the edit button
southampton got 9k on actually against championship opposition. Nothing was mentioned in the media at all. There’ll be around a similar crowd to the swansea game in the same comp 2 seasons ago circa 11k. 4k More than the worryers end of season play off with the whole league depending on it (catalan). although i would laugh uncontrollably if we get a bigger crowd against 4th tier opposition than the rugger club got for saints 12k (1/4 final) and leeds (grand final play off) 12k.
i wouldn’t go shouting just yet lord of the ring-piece, might come back and bite you on the obese, ellgren, bitter, deluded, pie stained arris….
speaking of which, here’s another of your lot

Re: Would you follow Wigan Rugby Union?
I could never watch Union but those who predict a dire future for our sport are, I believe, correct.
This is a post I made on the Guardian prior to the GF.
Having the team that finished 5th be crowned champions two seasons in a row would just be too much of a farce. Super League think this is good for the sport! When the play-offs started, you could only win from 5th by beating every team who finished above you. Now it’s far easier.
Why the poor crowds? People feel ripped off as they realise that the 27 ‘weekly rounds’ (how’s that for a name that puts it into context?) are worth relatively little. Six of the eight first round play-off games in the last 2 seasons have resulted in hammerings. That’s what you get when teams in 8th, who lose more than they win, are deemed to have done well enough to qualify. You have a team like Leeds, with enough good players to go through the motions for 24 rounds and be in the play-off zone to go full pelt for 6 weeks and take the title. It is crazy, like clubcall and like the ‘Millenium weekend’. What idiot decided that an uneven set of fixtures was a good idea especially when the top two teams have such differing standards of opposition to overcome in their extra game? These are played out in front of total crowds smaller than when these fixtures are played at the normal grounds. A sport that has a salary cap so restrictive that the RFU will offer sums to players many times what their clubs could offer even if they have the money in the bank. (Tomkins and Charnley will be prised away)
A great sport, run by morons. No wonder this season was my worst attended for about 15 years and my team finished top (and won a hub-cap).
fans of other clubs (st helens) are seeing the light too. Pity our deluded lodgers can’t accept that their primitive village hobby is NOT THE BIGGEST,BESTEST,SOUPER DOUPER SPORT IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLDY WORLD!!!!

A conversation I’m dreading…
…in 20 years time.
“Grandad”.
“Yes, son”.
“I thought there was only one kind of rugby. Some of my friends were talking about rugby league the other day. What’s that?”.
“Well, it’s a game I used to watch. It was much better than the rugby they play today. Much harder. They used to show it on telly.”
“So what happened to it?”
“It’s a long story. The fans lost interest and stopped going.”
“How come?”
“Well, you know in football how you finish top of the league, you are champions?”
“Yes”.
“And if you finish near the bottom, you get relegated?”
“ Yes”
“In rugby league, that didn’t happen”
(Chuckles) “Really? So who were champions then?”
“The top eight teams in the league had a little knockout competition at the end of the season and the winners of that were champions. Can you imagine that happening in football? Man Utd or Man City finish top of the league but aren’t champions. Spurs are champions despite only finishing fifth”.
(Laughs) “No, not really. So why did people stop watching?”
“People didn’t have much money back then. They realised that winning the league games wasn’t that important and their team only had to finish in the top eight to be in with a chance of winning the league so they stopped buying season tickets and just went to a few home games against the bigger teams and a couple of knockout games. Because nobody was going to games, one by one, the clubs started to fold because they couldn’t afford to keep going. Sky stopped sponsoring them and, well, that was it once the Sky money went.”
“That’s sad. So, why didn’t they do something about it?”
“They did eventually. Funny, really. It used to be run from an office in Leeds. Leeds had a decent team back then. They were rubbish in the league but they were champions four or five times despite only finishing top of the league once. They knew that all they had to do was win two or three games at the end of the season to be champions. When everybody else started to do the same and Leeds didn’t win for a couple of years, they scrapped this stupid playoff competition and went back to the old way where if you finished top, you were champions. But by then, the fans had gone and it was too late…
But lotp/mutty or whatever she is called only want to talk about the upcoming bradford cup game (bcfc have sold over 2k already by the way). Avoid “tackling” a problem for so long and it grows into a disaster. It’s ok reminiscing about “gud’owd times”, but failure to address modern day issues/problems through your entire game, will result in catastrophic consequences…………….But don’t worry about that, maureen’s chippy had a gillingham team poster up for our play off. And frano bottica (local lad) once had a “brad pitt” behind the riverside stand!!!!
Do you really go trawling round the message boards of other sports to find what you want to see?
Personally, I have a lot more to do with my life.
just dispelling a myth and idiotic local ideology, that stems from years of propaganda indoctrinated into certain members of the local RL sporting community (or should that be preston & bolton) ;)
That’s all sir! enjoy your penne chicken pasta in a basil & red wine sauce accompanied by sauteed mushrooms.
