The players must have been well motivated playing in a near empty stadium.Shit fans shit sport.Gypsies.

and just to add insult to injury, it was raining of biblical proportions at the full time whistle. what a long, dark, cold, wet walk home that would have been last night. Pretty confident king street was dead last night.

It might be heresy to some but I watched that game last neet & really enjoyed it – the result was a bonus too!!!
as for the play offs – at the end of the day are they really that different from the system in football where the team finishing 3rd in the championship who are often streets ahead of the others (points wise) can get pipped to promotion by the team who finish 6th?

        are you for real?????

if you finish 1st in any football league, you win the league!!!!!!!!!!!

if you finish bottom (3-4) then your down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

how is that in any way similar to the pointless, cringeworthy set up in souper douper league. top 8 out of 14 for god sake, can they make it easier to get in the play offs.

no comparison, anyone who tries to make comparisons with souper league format is not on this galaxy.

and please, spare me all the chit chat about champs league places etc zzzzzzzz

It’s totally different. The champions are crowned champions and will always be remembered as such – likewise the second place. The play-offs merely decide who else goes up from the also-rans.

As stupid as the rules are, we knew them at the start of the season.

How long before kick off was that? The players haven’t warmed up FFS.

Anyway whilst I don’t like to feed trolls I’m not in the mood for people taking the p*ss out of either of the two clubs I support so here goes……

Semi final of the league, biggest game of the season – 12334.

Semi final of a major cup competition for the first time. Arguably one of the biggest games in the clubs history – 12181.

Latics biggest home gate in 2012 so far is 22187 against Newcastle. Wigans was 21522 against St Helens. The home ends were sold out for one of those games. A clue to which one being that the home side lost as opposed to winning 4-0.

The average away following last season for Latics games was 3600 prior to the Wolves game (I know I worked it out to shut some rugby fans up last week). The av Latics home crowd therefore (including the Wolves game and using the away average) was 15033. Granted the Wolves away following was probably less than 3600 so that figure may be slightly higher.

The average away following at rugby games this season was around 950 according to my sources. The average home crowd was therefore 15092 (this is just for the 13 regular season Super League games)

So, whilst Latics may get higher crowds on a weekly basis when you take away the visiting supporters the home gates are practically the same (the Latics average will be higher than the rugby one but only by 00s and not the 000s that some on here would have you believe). When both sets of fans are asked to pay for extra matches that aren’t included on their season tickets they don’t turn up in the numbers you’d expect them too.

Yes there are far more football fans in Wigan than there are rugby fans but unfortunately they all choose to support Man Utd, Liverpool, Everton, Man City and even the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham. Wigan Athletic v Wigan rugby fans are pretty much even whether the people on here or the people on rlfans like it or not.

                      Not really no.

They also use a playoff system to decide the Champions in a number of football leagues around the World such as:

                      The A League (Australia)
                      Copa Libertadores
                      The Argentine Premiera Division
                      Liga MX (Mexico)
                      Belgian Pro League
MLS (Granted to size of Country)

Countries such as Greece and Holland hold playoffs to decide the Champs League entrants.

Don’t forget of course that you can be crowned Champions of Europe without ever being the Champions of your own Country.

I do – wasnt that the day you had to move your massive fixture to accommodate a tin-pot pit village sporting fixture at a football stadium? And give away over 5,000 tickets to local kids.

yes kick off time was moved by three hours but was played in the same stadium on the same day it defo was not moved to a different town and stadium and unlike the lodgers not a problem to us
