Gérard is the early contender, but who do you reckon would be a good appointment
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
10 November 2022 at 5:26 pm #197480Neil Critchley, did a tremendous job at Blackpool with limited funds, lives local, plays decent football, get him in!
Fuck the EFL
11 November 2022 at 6:13 am #197493Yeah Critchley for me too, tbh I’m not sure we would suit Gerard he would require a budget we don’t have
12 November 2022 at 9:06 am #197507The odds that I’ve seen are either Critchley or Ferguson. Gerrard is on the list, but nowhere near the favourites for the job.

12 November 2022 at 8:49 pm #197513I heard today a couple of things were big Dunc’s been spotted with the powers that be he looks to be the favourite for the job.
14 November 2022 at 6:26 pm #197518Gerrard fav with Maloney close by, for me both wouldn’t be my first choice
15 November 2022 at 10:50 am #197520It’s all change again on the bookies odds:
Steven Gerrard – 2/1
Duncan Ferguson – 5/2
Shaun Maloney – 10/3
Neil Critchley – 6/1
Rob Edwards – 7/1
I don’t think anyone has a clue yet who we’ll get!
15 November 2022 at 1:17 pm #197521No doubt some money is being placed but does not mean they have applied or even in the frame surely ?
There is no rush and i would rather them take their time as we have a capable caretaker in charge especially as he sent them out second half last saturday actually attacking the goal and must have given them a proper going over at Half time.
Not sure any of those listed would be my choice as a manager at first glance.
That said i think Maloney as an ex player of the club is very interesting as our old boys have without doubt (since we entered the league in 1978 )have enjoyed the most success out of our listed managers since then.
I am struggling to think of any ex players who have managed the club who have failed to bring some sort of success and before anyone mentions Graham Barrow, he successfully staved off football league relegation 1994-95 , very important looking back now.
The superstitious nature in me points to Maloney, popular ex player and his appointment would be popular with supporters also given we have always tended to favour ex players coming back to manage.15 November 2022 at 5:37 pm #197523I don’t fancy Maloney as manager but I’d take Ben Watson with Maloney assist!
Fuck the EFL
16 November 2022 at 5:19 pm #197524I’d have to side with Critchley, did a decent job at Blackpool on a tight budget, has the coaching badges and he got an insight into how the big boys operate in the Ponces League.
Big Dunc might surprise a few. Let’s get it right, he worked with some of the best managers around. If he did get the job I’d just hope some of those managers treats rub off on him18 November 2022 at 6:12 pm #197533OK – so today’s “hot favourite” according to the press is Kolo Touré! What do we all think of that? Personally, I remember him as a player but didn’t realise he had gone on to a “coaching” career!
Would seem to be a bit of a punt if you ask me, but maybe he could get his brother along to join him in a “Dream Team” appointment at WAFC!!!
18 November 2022 at 10:14 pm #197535I see Dave From Skem/Vat69 is on Twitter having one of his regular “I’m done wi um” breakdowns. He never follows up on his threats though.

Sounds a bit like another Warren Joyce Fiasco if you ask me !
Not convinced at all !19 November 2022 at 8:22 am #197539Let’s give the guy a chance and get behind him. I know Critchley was a front runner (my choice) but Kolo played and has coached at a high level under Rodgers unlike Joyce who did fcuk all.
I’m sure a budget will be on the table come Jan so let’s hope he can bring one or two in and pull us out the sh1t and hopefully keep us in the Championship because I truly don’t know if I can stomach another season in L1.
First and foremost he’s a defender which has got to be a good thing and stop us from going behind in every fookin game.1 main thing, I hope he wipes the slate clean and some young blood and signings a chance. Blackburn ain’t scared of giving their young lads a go.
