Let’s give the guy a chance and get behind him. I know Critchley was a front runner (my choice) but Kolo played and has coached at a high level under Rodgers unlike Joyce who did fcuk all.
I’m sure a budget will be on the table come Jan so let’s hope he can bring one or two in and pull us out the sh1t and hopefully keep us in the Championship because I truly don’t know if I can stomach another season in L1.
First and foremost he’s a defender which has got to be a good thing and stop us from going behind in every fookin game.

1 main thing, I hope he wipes the slate clean and some young blood and signings a chance. Blackburn ain’t scared of giving their young lads a go.

Could have been in a far worse situation than league 1 again. Could very well have been no club whatsoever. We are a club who currently fluctuates between the championship & league 1.

If it is Toure who becomes the new manager, I’ve no doubt he has a lot of contacts at Arsenal & Leicester. Could be exciting times. Or it could go tits up.

Getting a bit tiresome now all this “we are lucky to have a club to support” shite, how long are we keeping that up for?

These new owners should be making sure we don’t fluctuate between the championship and league one, show some ambition!

Surely Toure can’t be the best option for us, was he approached or did he actually apply for the job?

Lost the bloody plot these men.

We are currently in the Championship with decent owners and financially on good ground so we cannot dwell in the past and think we’re we could have been, we have to live for the day and deal with what’s happening right now.

For me we should be able to hold our own in the Championship it’s not like we’ve a sh1t squad it’s just not been utilised properly.

We need a manager to piece it all together and give everyone a fair crack of the whip, wipe the slate clean.

There’s one thing I’m pretty sure of, that long ball to the big guy will disappear. Hopefully Kolo adds a bit of width and pace to the starting 11, that would be nice.

Get behind him I say and hopefully the board do the same in Jan

Just get Big Dunc in and in there at 7 o’clock on Monday morning and kick some life into the squad.
          Get the loanees back.
Play an out and out winger, two up top and a power house positive midfielder.
Let’s end the drab, have some fun and see the football pre Martinez back at New Springfield.

If it is Kolo I for one I’m right behind him all the way. I personally feel the only way he’ll fail is a lack of funds and signings in Jan because we desperately need 1 or 2 in

A couple of fair points there Cup Winners. I do understand when folk say it’s in the past & let’s move on etc. But I’m afraid that period still lingers at the back of my mind, especially a “what if” scenario.

As for Toure. I’ve just read that he has spent all of his years being part of the coaching team with Rogers, who in himself is a good coach/manager & who plays the game the right way.

I know he lacks the management experience. But I’m actually feeling optimistic about his appointment. Not only that, but he has had a very good teacher in Rogers.

I wanted Critchley before Leam got the sack and still do, but if we are going for a coach with no real managerial experience the its Ferguson all day for me!

It will also save on the compensation we’ll have to pay Leicester, that money could be spent on new recruits come January.

No one knows the reasons why Toure looks like getting the job or what compensation we’ll have to pay. Whether he’ll bring backroom staff ,compensation again and removing our present coaches will require more pay outs on top of the golden handshake Liam got. All in all his pending appointment doesn’t look like the cheap option some are claiming. I personally would have got Ferguson. No compensation, worked under some good managers as well as taking over as interim manager. Listening to Shearer talking about him was interesting . He said he has an aura and the respect he gets from his players is as good as anyone he’s worked with. I find this soon to be appointment a little strange but as stated none of us know who really applied or what demands they tabled but whoever gets it will get all of our support as only then can we judge this decision.

I think the Toure appointment is an exciting one. It looks to be 99% over the line, rumours are that he is attending and organizing the training session tomorrow before they go out to Turkey or wherever for warm weather training. The fact that his appointment attracts compensation yet the owners have not blinked and eyelid, shows that they will invest in the club.
I had one eye on Critchley but who is to say he doesn’t come as a first team coach.??
As people have said the new gaffer needs to re- assess the squad including those on loan and from what I saw in the u21 game yesterday, those who may be able to take the step up.
All bodes well and has got every fan chomping at the bit for the official news and the restart in December.

Toure may be good or he may be bad but I don’t give a toss. I have lost all respect for the club over the treatment of Richardson and with it now comes a lack of interest.

I know the responders will be on with their “happy clapper” responses and “great coach shit manager” responses and that is fine as that is their opinion. My opinion is the club has shit on a guy who excelled in his achievements for 2 seasons and the first couple of months of this season. 5th of October I was at Hull and when we went 1-0 up we were provisionally in the play offs (as high as 3rd I think)……5 weeks later he’s sacked.

So splash the cash on wages and compensation when Leam wasn’t backed at all and let’s see where it gets you Mr Chairman and Mr CEO.

Richardson go the sack because of his loyalty and stubbornness to senior players. The Shinnie Darikwa Power spoke volumes, playing players totally out of position without offending any of them.
Scully?, played well against us and scored and I thought, ummmmm an attacking wideman who’s never been mentioned.
Fletcher? why on this planet bring him in ????. We had Magennis Wyke both of a similar style plus Broadhead.
His style of football long ball to the big lad. But the one thing I noticed was he inability to make changes and at the correct time.
We fell over the line to get promoted from L1 but for the me the writing was on the wall at the end of last season.

As for Kolo ?, we have to back our owners. In a similar vain the Vincent Company our owners are looking at the experience and the knowledge they’ve gathered at the top of the game.
I read an article awhile back and some players who trained under Kolo Toure said it was some of the best and enjoyable training sessions they’d ever trained under.
Every new manager comes with risks especially ones who have never managed before but I’d sooner have a first timer who has been given glowing reports and played at the top of the game.
The only thing left to say is to some, stop dwelling in the past and say were lucky to have a club ffs that’s wearing thin. We are were we are and it looks like our owners are prepared to back him

Okay then spit your dummy out for the rest of the season. I loved Richardson to bits and really wanted him to turn things around. The problem was he just stuck with the same players, formation and tactics that clearly wasn’t working. This brought on his own downfall.
How much fucking longer did we have to watch that shit, because he stuck by us when we went into administration and got us promotion. Now be honestly with yourself we won a load of games last season when we had been outplayed. We won the league due to the fact we scored a raft of goals from set pieces.
This season, the euphoria of winning the league and the fact that other teams were finding their feet led us to having a decent start. Still in the main due to Keane scoring from corners and free kicks. Whilst other teams moved forward we went back and he ended up setting his team up not to lose. 3 CH’s, 3 defensive midfielders, player in the fuckin hole contributing nothing to the midfield battle and teams just picked us off.
How the likes of Amos, Tilt, Power, Darakwa, McClean and dare I say it Keane (tbf due to the position he played) got selected week in week out when they were worse than awful, beggars belief. If he was still our manager they would also be starting against Millwall and all the games if fit to the end of the season. Why the fuck did he at least not try, flat back 4, give Shinnie the arm band, bring back McGrath, give Sculley a run in the team and maybe fletcher. Give Thelo 5 or 6 games instead of 2. Give Bennett a decent run in the team in a flat back 4 with McClean playing in his position on the left wing, (He will not be a wing back as long as he’s got a hole in his arse) Everyone could see that apart from Leam Richardson and obviously his coaches.
He wasn’t insane but insanity is described has doing the same things day after day and expecting to get better results.
Sorry but thanks for all you’ve done Leam, you will always be a Wigan athletic legend, but enough was enough. Roll on Toure with his 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 lets go out to win games instead of setting up not to lose.
By the way when we beat Blackpool their man was sent off after 18 mins yet Kelly changed nothing, 3 at the back ffs our spare man was stood at center half. Whatmore getting injured on 42 mins forced his hand and he went 4 at the back pushed McClean further up and we started to gain control even though we only scored a jammy goal from a corner. It was the same crap set up with the same crap coaches.
Cry all you want buddy, most of us want to move on and look to forward to a new coach, new ideas and hopefully tactics that will keep us in this league.
