Goals win games and we have less than ten from four forward players!!!
Doesn’t matter who is in charge , that is not up to the standard required at this level.
A new manager will not change anything Unless he is given a very big cheque in the window.
Been a Latics supporter for nearly 41 years and would put this bunch on par with Malkys Team a few years back.
Similar form but in reverse , couldn’t win at home but snatched a few wins away and lost many by small amounts.

Ok then….the guy half of us wanted sacked.

It’s still the same point, people didn’t like Martinez and said he was clueless, wasted transfer money, said the same things in defeat and was out of his depth in the same way they now say them about Cook, and yet they want Martinez back.

Just to put the record straight. Only I made a tongue in cheek comment about Bobby Lad coming back, hence the exclamation mark. I am aware that his current situation is slightly more desirable too!

        I actually want Tony Pulis.

Just because I think he would sort us out without any fuss, or favouritism, and would get rid of anybody not good enough or not pulling their weight.

Whether he would fancy it, or whether the board would fancy him, as he is a ‘calls a spade a spade” type, and not a ‘yes man’, is a different matter.

In one way your right for the sake of the clubs stability but Pulis’s style of football in stomach churning.

I’ve pointed out before, Cook made changes, some defensive when we were in charge in certain games tgat unsettled our style of play mid game which went on and cost us dearly on more than one occasion. If it ain’t broke then don’t fookin fix it.
Were now leaking goals for fun and that needs to be addressed straight away. I’ve lost faith in Cook and his methods to overcome poor form and I just cant see for the life of me see how he is going to breath new life into a down trodden side.
It needs a new and a younger manager with passion, energy and fresh ideas to revitalise this last lustre outfit.
If we stick and hope then were down. He can’t just reinvent a new Cook overnight what he’s bringing to the table isn’t working.

Everton drop into bottom 3, and hours later sack the manager.

We dropped into bottom 3 the other night and…..

            Utter silence. Its a joke.

              Re PULIS.

I knew there would be some people not liking my suggestion, and I understand why. A pragmatic manager, rather than one of flair. I just think he would be a good option, due to his no messing manner….

He would.. sort out the wheat from the chafe and get rid of who isnt good enough.
He would..shore up the defence and make us a tighter unit.

Ultimately, I think he would grind some results out of this set of players. If they arent fit, he would get them fit. He would also probably have contacts to bring in some handy new heads in January, maybe some experienced heads. He has the experience needed, for sure.

Addendum. I just looked at his Wikipedia page and this made for very interesting reading…

“Pulis has a reputation within the game for achieving solid results on small budgets and also maintains the proud record of never being relegated as a player, coach or manager.[1] Throughout his managerial career Pulis has used the long ball style of play.[143]He has a reputation for securing safety for struggling clubs, giving him a “Red Adair” type image which he finds frustrating.[144]

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates stated that Pulis had studied, and was influenced by, Italian styles of play, saying: “The so-called Catenaccio defensive system interested him and the Italians haven’t done too badly, have they, with their four World Cups?”

When you read that, it does sound like a good fit with Wigan Athletic.

Cook not going anywhere. Cost too much to sack him. Don’t waste your energy.

If we go to Luton and get done 3 nil, I think even Stevie Wonder could see the writing of the wall.

If the silence and non activity remains, then the turnout v West Brom could be very embarrassing.

Hello.!!! Cookies cult leader finally appears . Be interesting to hear if he still thinks letting him continue is the answer, and the reasons for it if he believes that. Probably using that cliche from last seasons escape ” if we finish 4 from bottom then the seasons a success “. Also not having that tripe that Big Roy keeps spouting that he’s going nowhere …..money talks and the financial consequences of league 1 will not go unheeded by the owners.

We have players to play a long ball game. Moore, especially.

What we havent got is a manager who knows how to play it.

In fact, its bizarre how Cook changed our whole style, when we had some success playing a more ‘slow build up’, passing style. No idea why he decided to change.

I will, but after Luton away. The 3-1 defeat will take its toll.

All the above are wishful thinking and will want a higher profile Club.

When we lose at Luton and Cook finally bites the dust a lot on here are going to be disappointed with his replacement.

As I’ve said before we already have 2 managers at the club who could take over in the interim.

The Everton links could still put Unsworth in the frame.

We will appoint someone from the lower reaches.

All the above could happen which I doubt will appease Latics fans.

Could Ian Holloway not do a job here?.
