      Totally disagree
Nobody gets relegated in November and things will turn believe me – they have done already
      Unbeaten in two games
Too much emphasis has been placed on getting back to the premier league in my opinion and that has fed through to the manager and players which is ridiculous when the club is in a transitional period.
We will not get relegated but sack the present staff and we might be and a change wouldn’t improve anything- we would still have an oversized squad and the new lads like De lort and company would still be settling in.

I get your point, but how long does a transitional period take and do you ever get to the goal of winning games on a regular basis, if you are constantly changing the team, formation etc?.

Apart from a core of about 3 players, the rest don’t know if they are playing from week to week, even if they play well when selected.
If I am performing well in my job, I would be totally miffed if my boss says well done mate, done the business there, but I’m bringing Fred Bloggs in next week in your place, take a break sunshine.

Rosler has had long enough to sort his team and formation out, if you say he still needs time, then what a fekin idiot for playing the likes of Chow, Jennings, Holt even Tavernier in the pre-season friendlies when he had no intention of them featuring in the starting 11.
The mentality of some of the players could be, fek it if I play well I’ll still get dropped, why bother. [yes even on their massive pay packets]. There has been unrest in the dressing room, even Whelan had to go in before the Forrest game and give um a pep talk, jeesh!

IMO, we need to get promoted this season, the team is slowly but surely becoming a distant memory from the one that kept us in the prem for all those years.
I can only see us going down the same route as Leeds, Forrest, Portsmouth etc
OK Whelan balances the books and what a magnificent job he’s done, but it’s no good if the manager doesn’t get the best from his squad, no-one will dispute that he is categorically not getting the best from this squad at the moment.
If we don’t get up this season, the likes of Maloney, Ramis, McLean, McManaman will probably want to move on and so the memories of the premier league will go fainter and fainter.

I for one didn’t want us to get relegated from the prem, some on here hoped we would, i wonder what they are thinking now?.
What’s the point of being the most affluent club and having the best training facilities, in League two.

So IMO he does need to start winning games, the honeymoon period is over, we have the best squad in this division, even other managers recognise that fact, so what is going wrong? Only Uwe and his players can answer that. [/quote]

I agree his honeymoon period is over however he over acheived in his first few months and set the bar to such high levels that we all expected to be back in the greed league this season given that run he had in January to March this year.
We failed narrowly to acheive that and they keeps banging on about getting back there as quickly as possible which is all well and good if you have a steady plan to get there but he has brought in some young hungry players who will take a bit of time to settle in.
I seem to remember a certain Paul Jewell doing something very similar in the sort out season of 2001-2 .
My view on this season is that he will be given time to sort out the squad and weedle it down a bit in January with his own stamp being seen towards the end of this season and into next.
This should be a season of consolidation in my view adapting to the league we are in and preparing for the days of lower income if they come along because we all still want a club to support in the future.
An interesting few months ahead and a real crossroads for our club but no time to panic just yet.

Yes, but you’d also have a decent case to present in court which is why it doesn’t happen. Whether you like it or not, football is a totally different business to normal ones like project management or window cleaning or health and safety management.

If you don’t believe me, go and line up with Horc at the DW stadium and apply for the manager’s job and see if you get a go at it. If you don’t know Horc, he will be the one swearing at any young kids that happen to be walking past.

Stop fretting, Whelan knows what he is doing.

Just want’s to hang around for one last season, sell the assets (best players) collect his last parachute payment then take it all and go. Thus leaving Latics in decline and tumbling back through the leagues in an oversized stadium.

The stadium has served it’s purpose now, He didn’t pay for it anyway so it’s quids in. He has taken about 600m of Sky’s money That was the plan since 1995.

Tickles me how many of you think he cares about the club.

Plus we got to play in that stadium and who knows we may even own it plus weve seen three fantastic promotions, an Auto Windscreens Trophy, A league Cup Final and an FA Cup win and semi final. We also have got to play against and see some of the worlds greatest players and see our Latics beat them. Oh and Wigan Athletic in Europe. Just say those words again. FA Cup winners and Wigan Athletic in Europe!
Go on again FA Cup winners and Wigan Athletic in Europe. Amazing! The greatest story in the history of British football and we have all witnessed it.
FFS Dave much gratitude from me for letting me live a dream and if Dave has creamed 600 million off Sky in the process, well done Dave.
We are in a great stadium playing against great clubs still and not piss wet through and shivering at Springy playing South Liverpool on a Wednesday. However if we were back in non league and playing Chorley or Alty again piss wet through on a Wednesday evening I would still be there because this is my great little club!!

I think that this has already been addressed, however, when you are managing assets as complicated and as expensive as this you do not rush things just to appease the crowd

I think you are grossly understating the ‘core’, but I suppose that fits in with your rant. Further, there are jobs out there (outside of football) where specialists and core personnel are rested/changed/rotated because of the type of work carried out – not everyone works for Heinz/a garage/a production line

Players move on and fresh ones come in – we have done it once and we can do it again – and I believe that

Look, this is a long season (and it’s only October). Stand back, take a deep breath and stop listening to the doom and gloomers in the pub who wouldn’t know a game of football if one broke out in their back yard. My opinions are based on what I see on the pitch and what is confirmed by looking at the sky bet championship table, not what other people say.
I’ll support this club till I die, unfortunately for me I am of the age that has seen me watch the tics from non-league football. I have lived the dream in the past 10 years. I think I know a bit about football, I’m not a young kid who has never seen any really bad days at Wigan and I also don’t watch the game through blue and white tinted glasses.

                  I’ll say it again…..

MY ONLY GRIPE IS THAT OUR MANAGER IS MEDDLING WITH THE TEAM FAR TOO MUCH. THE TEAM HAS PLAYED REALLY WELL AND WON, OR HAS PLAYED REALLY WELL AND DRAWN OR LOST WHEN THEY DIDN’T DESERVE TO LOSE, SO MY MESSAGE TO ROSLER IS, “DON’T TRY AND FIX THINGS THAT AREN’T BROKEN, OR YOU’LL SPOIL THEM”.

I’ll challenge anyone to predict with confidence what our team will look like against Brentford. I’ll even challenge anyone to predict 6 of the outfield players who will play against Brentford.
We are almost a quarter way through the season, these questions should be easy to answer. I bet the fans of teams like Forrest, Norwich, Derby, Watford, Ipswich, Boro etc can accurately answer these questions without blinking.

Lets hope we kick start the season with 6 points in the next 2 games and lets also hope that if we do beat Brentford, he plays the same team, if available, against Millwall. :cheer:
