Never mind any other bit of business Nick needs to be signed up to a new contract ASAP please. He could lead us to the Premier League and the riches we will get from that.
23 August 2018 at 2:56 am #171323Was excellent tonight, fingers crossed we can keep him fit. Also, I’ll have to eat my words on Massey. Him and James have hit the ground running and the way he took his goal was that of someone who’s growing in confidence week by week
23 August 2018 at 3:32 am #171325Easier league for Gavin and Nick to show off their skills.
26 August 2018 at 9:01 pm #171416News outlets today awash with stories that up to 6 championship clubs and Celtic scrapping over Powell before Fridays loan window shuts. They stating that Wigan will accept 5 million,he’ll go on loan and sign permanently in January. Surely our present/new owners or whover is making the decisions will not even contemplate this. This protracted takeover must be having an affect on this situation.Whoever running club needs to pin him down with a good contract then if the vultures still want him theyll have to stump up serious cash……5 mill ffs….Would love to know why the f*** this takeover is dragging!!
26 August 2018 at 10:36 pm #171417I am not surprised they are sniffing at that price.
26 August 2018 at 10:56 pm #171419I suppose it all depends on the takeover.
If, like some say, the new investors are awash with cash, then I expect they will keep him and build around him as the money won’t matter too much.On the other hand, if money is tight then I think they might cash in.
Either way, £5M is a ridiculously low amount to be even thinking about.
I suppose that it is possible that this figure is just a pie in the sky figure that was dreamt up by the press when Villa were hovering and not a figure that the Latics have had anything to do with.
If we were to sell him I reckon we should be looking at a figure in the region of £15M or more going by what some players are going for.
Do you think Blackburn would accept £5M for Bradley Dack??? I don’t, so why should we??
26 August 2018 at 11:45 pm #171420Now if they were talking Gary Roberts that’s a nearer figure is £5 mill.
27 August 2018 at 2:16 am #171421Presumably every week that goes by without Powell signing a new contract the less he’s worth as in 4 months he can sign for a new club for zero. Clubs will know that so why would they spend more than 5 million? Bradley Dack recently signed a new 3 year deal so he would be worth far more!
27 August 2018 at 3:21 am #171422What Powell does may not have anything to do with Latics, if he refuses to leave and exercise his option to leave on a free next summer there isn’t much we can do about it, he may feel we signed him on a free why should we get anything in return, if that happens he can choose himself where he wants to play not just to the team paying the biggest transfer fee.
27 August 2018 at 8:17 pm #171429By all accounts there’s 4 – 5 clubs showing interest. If this is true then I very much doubt he will be here much longer.
I just hope we get some decent dollar for him27 August 2018 at 8:27 pm #171430Wherever Transfermarket get their valuations from then sectioning them under the mental health act would be in order…£900,000 !!!!..If we allow him to leave now would be absolutely disgraceful considering we allegedly have new wealthy investors on the horizon. Everything good this season orbits around him…..hope we do the right thing…..f### em all off and get this balls up of a takeover sorted before we lose any more out on “loan”……That loophole should be fired off as well…out on loan….permanent in January!!!….Be nice to hear some updates from the club….how long now..must be 12 months.Christ …this is one protracted takeover ,and we being a cheaply purchased asset….City takeover was supposedly done in 4 months.
27 August 2018 at 8:41 pm #171431Lets wait till Friday if takeover is done and dusted and they want Nick to stay he will be playing on Saturday. If he leaves then we must play hard ball with whoever wants him. If there are many in for him then 5 mill will not be enough and we should hold out for the best deal maybe involving a player swap as well as cash. Screw the fookers for whatever we can get out of them.
27 August 2018 at 10:12 pm #171434Was this one of the reasons why we signed windass, to enable powell’s departure?
28 August 2018 at 12:41 am #171435Lets wait till Friday if takeover is done and dustedWhich Friday ? There’s 52 of them

Which Friday ? There’s 52 of them[/quote]
I,ll explain window shuts Wednesday so as every other window deals will still go through Thursday annoyingly whilst FA verify late paperwork. So if Nick is still here Friday we will have kept him. THIS Friday coming ok .
