Just seen on a tweat and Nob End have been given a FULL allocation of 4700 seats.
I must be missing something here as the North and South Stands both hold 5400 so why the reduced capacity. 700 x £25 would come in handy for our club so what is going on and why?The 700 seat shortfall is because the front 3 or 4 rows and the 1/2 column to the east of the stand are secured from use by netting for security reasons. I can’t ever see them changing the policy on that for a local derby.
Security reasons??? Who made up that pile of shite. So for eight years in the Premier League it wasn’t required and the first season back in the Championship not required. Something wrong here somehow! So how is it that this is not required at Old Trafford or Anfield or Nob End even. Fans at Wigan are in separate stands!!! This smells of the goings on at Springfield Park!!!
The difference was that in PL days we could afford to pay a bigger police presence inside the ground. Relying now mainly on stewards to prevent pitch incursions is not going to work.
25 January 2017 at 11:10 pm #154598I’m afraid I can’t take anyone seriously if they resort to calling a team Nob End.Nobbers – How old are you? Twelve??
As for the East Stand giving up their seats. No chance. Most ridiculous suggestion I’ve heard for years.
Bollocks to the money. Why would you want to increase Prestons support anyway? I’d be more concerned giving out free tickets to the local schools to increase our support.
‘Ashy’, if you live in the vicinity of Preston and you are not a fan of PNE you call them ‘Nob End’! This has always been the case! Even some of their own fans say ‘Nobbers’, it’s just one of those local things :)
25 January 2017 at 11:16 pm #1545994700 or 5400 wouldn’t make much difference and clubs would if required bring their own stewards.
This season its only Leeds and Villa and possibly The Nobbers who could sell that many. Newcastle would have on a Saturday.
Blackburn and Nob End sold every available seats against these big clubs and are on far less income than we are with our parachute payment so the copper thing cant be a reason.
Maybe its a Police and Council thing after all they do have history in these areas.25 January 2017 at 11:23 pm #154600It was realised after our time in the Prem that the concourse in the North Stand was not big enough to accommodate a full capacity and so the number was lowered! I read that somewhere on our official website ages ago, well at least I think it was from the club!
26 January 2017 at 1:12 pm #154613Maybe it what happens when your fans cant stay off the pitch
Stuart the 700 empty seats are in the away end and the side seat restrictions must be to stop fans climbing up the big smooth concrete wall of the stand just like the unused seats in the east stand.
And the South and all along the East. It could be reduced capacity because we couldnt stay off the pitch last year.
Maybe its just for the extra advertising.
26 January 2017 at 1:24 pm #154614And at the risk of being called tedious for the second time this week…..
GMP wouldn’t allow away fans in both the North and South Stands as it would prove virtually impossible to keep home and away fans separate before and after the game.

26 January 2017 at 4:41 pm #154618The stupid thing is, from the majority of the seats in the North and the Esat Stands that are netted off, you can’t even see the fans in the end of the other stand.
There must be some kind of reasoning behind it, but we’ll never know for sure.
BTW- I have no desire whatsoever for any opposition fans to be given more than the allocation of the North Stand. I would be as annoyed as anyone else if season ticket holders or even regular visitors in the East could not use their regular seat. It was just wind up to keep things ticking over.

I don’t really know but I do remember reading what I said somewhere! I don’t think there was any netting when Newcastle came ( Seem to remember stand being almost full! ) As for netting along first few rows? What’s that for then? If fans are gonna run onto the pitch then it doesn’t matter where they are sat, they will go over that wall/hoarding regardless!
