19 August 2010 at 10:27 am #43230My real name is Grassington Knoll my fellow conspiracy theorists call me Grassy Knoll for short ! :o
This is verging on the ridiculous. ;)
19 August 2010 at 12:41 pm #43233I have the misfortune to work for a large, American-owned company. A few years ago, after we had successfully completed a very lucrative contract they decided one of the big chiefs should come over to congratulate us. So he duly arrived and launched into his “great job” speech. At the end he finished off with “..and have a great holiday”.
It took us a while to persuade him that we did not actually celebrate the 4th of July as a holiday.19 August 2010 at 12:53 pm #43234My real name is Grassington Knoll my fellow conspiracy theorists call me Grassy Knoll for short ! :o

is there anybody you havent met,or anywhere you haven’t been, or anything you haven’t done.I may have missed something, and i have read most things you have posted. somethings i’ve agreed with, somethings i’ve disagreed with, but you must be very old to have been/done/seen/ said/ talked to, etc etc. everything you post abouti await your either long winded response, or your short obnoxious attempted put down. as you can probably guess by the time i am a little worse for wear, but i like others, i suspect are a little fed up with you.
no offence intended, cos after all we are all latics fans arnt we.
I haven’t met YOU. Yet.
Why are you asking? Because I metioned I’d spoken to some American WW2 Airborne veterans? Yeah, I met some over in America, in 2002, and I’ve also spoken to Bill Guarnere, who is portrayed in the ‘Band Of Brothers’ series. He’s come over here quite a lot to do TV documentaries and historical things.
Why are you fed up with me? Becuase I’m telling it as it is? I HAVE met USA veterans from WW2 and they were no different to our veterans. And why do you think I haven’t done what I say I have? I’m 33 year old and I’ve done a lot of travelling. If I am interested in somewhere, or something, I go to where it happened. What is so wrong with that?
Going off what the others have posted, I know where they are coming from. Whilst over there, I bought a pair of trainers from Footlocker in Times Square, New York. Only £25 over there, same pair £85 over here! When I paid, girl noticed I was English and said “If you have any problems, you can return them to our store in Covent Garden”. Like you would just nip down to London to return some trainers…..
People in somewhere like Oklahoma or Texas, don’t even know what is going on in New York, never mind other countries. It IS insular, because it’s such a vast country. I did a Greyhound bus journey around Oklahoma. Rural Oklahoma state (Mcalester) to Tulsa, and then on to Oklahoma City. It took FOUR hours.
19 August 2010 at 5:00 pm #43270Truth is, whether you like to accept it or not, without the Americans in WW2, we’d have been in trouble. No, seriously! Hitler was on our doorstep and on the verge of invading when the USA came into the war in 1941VAT – I’ll agree with you that without the input of the USA into WW2 then the conflict would have run a very different course.
However the Nazi army, luftwaffe & navy was at no point through the course of the war in any position to launch an invasion of Britain.
Yes it had been planned but was never anywhere near to fruition. In time (& I’m talking about the distant future) they may well have been able to launch this invasion but the war was lost for Hitler the second that he launched Operation Barbarosa. If he hadn’t launched that then Nazi Germany could have concentrated all its military planning & effort into defeating Britain in Britain itself & Africa.
As it was the war was lost for Nazi germany long before the Normandy landings whch in effect created the 2nd front in Europe & hastened the war’s endAs for Americans themselves – the ones I’ve met on my travels have all been salt of the earth people. Collectively it can be a different matter & as a nation I find their group pysche distasteful but you’ll find just as many people worldwide saying the same about the British
2 September 2010 at 12:44 am #45080It can only be a matter of time before ” they ” catch up with the Wikileaks head mon , Assange. He will probably be killed in a car crash or maybe he’ll top himself in a field. ;)
As soon as I heard about the rape claims , I smelt a rat.
However it seems this is just 2 women that he ” met ” one weekend and they aren’t impressed with his dating technique.
” They ” may not have got him this time , but they will.
2 September 2010 at 11:30 am #45099Maybe we should remind the Americans who bankrupt the world in the last 2 years….. Sub prime mortgages etc….
You said it was Labour
Did you end up voting BNP in the end?[/quote]
It was the American banking and financial system that caused the problems, labours deregulation of the banking system in the uk allowed it to happen here, oh and yes selling off all the ok at the lowest price in 50 years failed to allow the UK to survive the cash flow crisis….
2 September 2010 at 12:49 pm #45106A wigan council worker was laying some flags on King street when a large limo pulled up beside him. The darkened rear window slowly came down to reveal a big fat American businessman. The American started ” Good to see you guys maintaining your streets, but did you know back in America where I come from our guys who do that sort of job work to the nearest millionth of a millimetre ! ” To which the flagger replied ” Well that wouldnt do here coz these have gotta be bob on ! ” :)

2 September 2010 at 7:25 pm #45174What you need is to retire from yoru current job, announce to the world you will solve a millennia old problem and spend 6 months fakinging interest, or wait till yoru tan has topped up, then write a book.
Life couldnt be easier !
