May 1990 it closed its doors,20 years on the `shame of Wigan` STILL lies crumbling away.
20 YEARS our Labour Council has had to sort this problem out….
I remember at the time the uproar the move was costing the ratepayer,
They should never have been allowed to leave the building without contingency plans in place.
Shame on Wigan Council!
20 May 2010 at 3:47 pm #34157Steady on their !!!, this is labour your talking about, those who cannot be seen to have done anything wrong.
If you were in power election after election and still people voted you in, why would you bother !

Because if you don’t bother you may not get voted into power, as they didn’t
20 May 2010 at 4:52 pm #34171Unfortunately the tools responsible ie. Wigan Labour Council, were once again re-elected with a massive majority!!
My theory is,there are so many Wiganers on a `good screw` under labour ( ie,every kind of benefit under the sun),
They are naturally going to vote for the party that created their comfy `lifestyle`!20 May 2010 at 9:41 pm #34210Totally correct on all points truelatic, town full of scroungers and councillors who don’t live in the town – I didn’t vote for these idiots. I just hope they don’t give planning permission to turn it into a Mosque.

They are naturally going to vote for the party that created their comfy `lifestyle`!Thnk you’re onto something there. I like the fact that the new government has made the pledge to get people jobs within 6 months and make the benefit scroungers have tests to see if there is any work they can do.
Sick of paying taxes to scroungers and job dodgers :)
3 June 2010 at 3:07 pm #35513yer lets start with the biggest scroungers of them all the royal family ..

when the big cuts happen? which will happen when the world cup is up and running(the sheeple won’t notice)a lot of people are going to lose there jobs james.what are these jobs going to be that you think they can do because there are 2 and half million out of work now. your comment smacks of yourself been a daily mail reader. its the classic divide and rule scenario were the government of the day blames people who’s fault it is not?
5 June 2010 at 12:44 pm #35899Your taring everyone with the same brush….
leaving the genuine unemployed aside(those actively seeking work who have lost their jobs),

I really dont think people realise how bad a state that Labour have left this country, if we dont do anything now we will be paying £70bn a year in interest alone on the countries debts. £40k of debt per working person in the country.
The big cuts have to happen to stop us p*ssing money down the drain year after year.
The bottom line is the previous government have spent it all, at least we have stopped printing money now.!
11 July 2010 at 9:14 pm #39752Walked up King Street this morning,

13 July 2010 at 1:06 am #39871wether the debt was left by labour or not, (I’m not totally convinced the debt is that). its called shock tactics, whichever party is in power we would have been told that the debt was massive, and if we dont make wholsale cuts we will be in the crap. so everybody starts blaming everybody else, and while we are arguing about it, and footballers wages, and the fat cats salaries, and the bankers etc, etc, the government carry on making financial cuts and job cuts in public services
and scrapping free swimming, and this that and the other, all the time telling us that this “streamlining” will “save” us, so we’ad best not oppose it or the country’s had it.
What happens next is that the public services will be sold off, to the fat cats buisnesses and the governments cronies, and they will get richer and richer, while we get poorer and poorer.
And by “we” I mean, not only the poor souls at the bottom of the ladder,
but a lot of so called proffesionals, and delluded people who believe they are middle class cos they think they own there own house’ or mid priced car, or overpriced fitted kitchen etc etc.Sorry to go on, but mi baths not very fast at filling for some reason.
13 July 2010 at 1:12 am #39873Oh and by the way,in a few years if not sooner, (cos it doesn’t matter as we wont be able to do anything about it) we’ll find out that the politicians
or their family members, who did the selling off, will either be advisors to or directors of the companies that did the buying.13 July 2010 at 1:40 am #39877wether the debt was left by labour or not, (I’m not totally convinced the debt is that). its called shock tactics, whichever party is in power we would have been told that the debt was massive, and if we dont make wholsale cuts we will be in the rubbish. so everybody starts blaming everybody else, and while we are arguing about it, and footballers wages, and the fat cats salaries, and the bankers etc, etc, the government carry on making financial cuts and job cuts in public services
