Jeff Wright was the original Jordi Gomez.
He certainly was. I can hear the groans as if it was yesterday. Oh, actually there was the same groans yesterday.
Yes nothing much changes from those days to today most fickle Wigan fans would much sooner see a headless chicken type footballer than technical type player
Do you mean like DiSanto ! Another feeble attempt at winding people up ! Sigh !!

Again I mention fickle fans and you pop up to give a absurd opinion about a player who played for the club 35 years ago and you compare him with Franco

Your use of the word ” Today ” might have something to do with my riposte ! ;)
7 January 2013 at 2:41 pm #99430I can tell you it was far worse in them days being a kid surrounded by mi dad and his mates ,it was 90 mins of abuse and threating never to watch another game again. Then next week same old faces stood in same spot whinging about the same players.Bring back Peter Houghton. At least in those days we had a week away from the whingers, thanks to the internet they keep going all week

Doesn’t that kind of prove Thirty5’s point? Di Santo doesn’t get the stick from fans like Gomez does because he runs around a lot.
8 January 2013 at 1:41 am #99528Certain players can be made to look bad because those around them simply dont read the said players thoughts.Jeff was castigated at times for doing something good because his teammate was too slow or to clumsy to finish off Jeffs good work.Gomez suffers the same at times.I think if you put Jordi in a team full of quality players you would see a different Gomez.I really liked Jeff , he took loads of stick at times but kept on doing his bit.

Nice bail out ! He was trying to get a reaction by mentioning fickle fans. My mention of Di Santo being of the headless chickenesque variety of player was in no way comparing to someone from 30 odd years ago ! I think he likes the lightside/ darkside divide and besides, Di Santo has come in for more stick on here recently than Gomez !

I totally agree with that if you put Gomez in a good side he’d look a great player.
8 January 2013 at 1:56 am #99535I actually think Gomez is a very good footballer.Great control, good vision, calm under pressure, good shot.Of course he doesn’t get stuck in so is shite insome people’s eyes.
1.7 BS8 January 2013 at 2:11 am #99542The reason I put fickle fans has been proven on these boards over the last few years the same ones crying and throwing there toys out of the pram at any given opportunity and those same fans are proven wrong over those years as I said Filmoss was the only one to reply to the post that is up to him but over thirty five years of watching this club on the terraces and the stands long term supporters will know there are fickle fans from the entrance to the football league until now ,well maybe a lot more now

My frustrations come from not seeing any progression when I know full well that they are capable of putting in a shift ( Magical run in ! ) Boyce in an interview a while back mentioned that we cannot rely on the proverbial get out of jail free card and that we must start to find results and get some points on the board, this has not happened since said interview and is a little concerning !
8 January 2013 at 2:26 am #99546Indeed it is but we are not getting cut away from the pack are we really if say by the end of this month with three games to play we are well adrift then time will be to panic all though some more than others

One you are missing there Griff, and is arguably the best of the lot is Kevin Langley.
