The bottom 4 or 5 rows were meshed off but covered in Nob end flags and banners and there were odd pockets of empty seats that could be seen when the fans were sat down.

If the stand is unreserved then they need to leave seats empty which the netting probably covers most of and then there would have been a few here and there.
These posters on here who ‘cant understand the hatred of Wigan rugby’ need to do some research.
As someone born, raised and still living in Wigan I despise the fat lycra wearing gets with a passion.
Wigan RLFC back in the 80s were prepered to see our club die,I have no words printable to describe Lindsay, the man is a weasel.
Having a nice Sunday afternoon pint with my wife when in strolled the jubilant rugby dollopers. Telling everyone in earshot how they are world champions!!..I nearly choked on my black sheep.Explained to one that it was the equivalent of American baseball teams winning the WORLD series. The numbnuts couldn’t grasp my point, probably still sat studying wikipedia scratching their nuts..Its a sport no one give a toss about outside the north of England so let them bask in their miniscule success whilst we participate in a game that is revered around the globe….and no matter how many perm any 2 from 4 challenge cups they win or super leagues pots it will never ever match that staggering achievement in May 2013…and do you know I still think they choke on it whenever it’s mentioned…good, cos I too remember the Lindsey days when those pillocks where quite happy to “pull the ladder up ” in our hour of need !!
In my experience the resentment and vitriol is noticeably more potent coming from the rugby fraternity. I really don’t understand why this should be so given the rugby’s history of patronising Wigan Athletic at every opportunity. If anything, it’s the football lot that should be the ones doling out the spite. It can only be jealousy therefore that drives this hatred, based on what appears to be them having their noses push out from domination of the town’s bragging rights and monopolisation of the media coverage.
I suggest the fact that rugby biased comments are tolerated on this board whilst similar posts on the rugby forums defending the football are not, tends to support my argument.
