Great to read the ever ending optimism has extended to the close season

JRs post absolutely bang on.Shed loads of supporters feel exactly the same. I for one certainly do. Danson needs to show some public leadership as presently our clubs soul so nurtured by Mr Whelan feels like it’s being rapidly eroded.

Me too, I totally agree with JR, CW & DB.

Tis coming season has to be an improvement on all fronts at the club, otherwise a slump will turn into a landslide

It’s not about “optimism and what’s going to happen it’s just how the club has changed as though there’s a 2nd agenda something suss going on in the background.

As I previously stated I hope Danson proves me and others who feel the same wrong with a show of intent and two fingers up to all the non optimistic supporters but as it stands it feels different.

I think we all want reassurance, fans just want to see the club talking & communicating with us all at ground level we and take on board and feel were all in it together and see what long term plans are been put in place rather than been fed info hand to mouth (if any) or total silence.

You only have to look at Tal Al attending the supporters club then on social media the banter fans were made up. Fans want this, owners and board communication of some sort but now it just,

          tumbleweed,

And the latest I heard there’s gonna be a fair few made redundant in the comings few months.
It feels like we’re just to be grateful and told to sit on your hands and just be thankful don’t get me wrong I am grateful but I honestly thought Wigan owner it’s DW part2 he’s one of our own but it’s far from it it feels more like the hooded claw.

We’ve gone from what I’d describe as, a small family feel based club little Wigan taking the urine to a “give us your money and ushed” club

Things might improve and I hopefully feel different and more optimistic by Christmas after a show of intent by the club but, as it stands and last season the feelings I have right now?, I don’t know, it just doesn’t feel right to me.

Plenty I know don’t go to night matches they have dropped off (and ex super loyal fans) and some have stopped going altogether due to all the sh*t we’ve been through and the cost of living.

I’m 1 of a few who have a season ticket out my lot again lots deciding to pick and choose Sat games and ifollow didn’t help as well showing mid week games on a cold wet & windy Tuesday.

Anyway let’s hope someone from the Danson brigade come clean and point out to us uncertain fans any future plans now the transfer bans gone but I personally don’t think they will.
Also for me, one guy can’t be the CEO of 2 codes and give it 100% to both impossible.
I hope we can start building and from tomorrow onwards when alot of contracts end we can see positive signs and were all reassured and any doubts are put to bed

Well said Skeggy. Listen folks, if you’re not happy supporting Wigan Athletic (ie a club who is not City, Liverpool et al), then kindly leave your moaning elsewhere & feck off! UTT through thick & thin. :yahoo:

Every fan has a right to say what they feel without having someone being angry abd abusive towards them.
That post was abusive and un-called for Runcorn.
Why not try and understand what has caused them to feel that way?, I can see it although I choose to look forward to see what happens in the next few months.
If anyone had said to me you will go to the ground on match day have a drink then walk the 2 and 1/2 miles home before kick off, just cos of the team selection, I would have laughed at them, but I did it.
Lets just hope that Danson becomes more visible and Maloney changes his tactics and stops the constant team changes.
I would sooner finish in the bottom half going out to win every game than top half playing like we did for most of last season.
I also hope the owner shows us that he at least “likes” our club and is not just a business man hoping to make a few bob every year, whilst our club treads water in league one and two, with no commitment to doing anything else. Time will tell.
There is no doubt however that crowds will be down next season, thats the general vibe Im getting after talking to people, some stalwarts and reading stuff on social media. So be it, there is only the owner along with the manager, his staff and players can change things, by getting it right on the pitch. I don’t mean winning every game, I mean being competitive in every game and providing at least a bit of entertainment in doing so.

Inappropriate to compare season ticket holders of 10-20-30+ years with the JCL types who haven’t been seen since the days of Coyle or Mackay.

Just when it couldn’t get any worse for the club off the field, seems anyone who has renewed by card will need to be very careful.

Of course it is called for. It wasn’t that long ago when we nearly lost this club AGAIN! And folks like yourself (whom I’m surprised at BTW) walking home due to the team selection. Once again, FFS!

You spoke of your disappointment in an earlier post with regards a certain striker being picked over others. If it’s the same striker I’m thinking of, he has now gone.

Last season was always going to be a make do with what we have kind of season. I for one am looking forward to seeing how the project develops.

Read what I posted again instead of just picking out the bits that make my post sound like I’m deserting them.
Again, ask the question why I felt the need to miss my first home game in god knows how many years.
Cut me in half I have Wigan Athletic running through me, I just didn’t enjoy last season. The covid season was more enjoyable with a load of kids, has beens and Will Keane playing for the club.
If you don’t look forward to the game on Saturday then what are the options ?
I would never stop going, my season ticket is ordered and my seat will be mine till I die. I just have slight doubts about the owner and the manager. Last season was one of the poorest league ones I’ve seen. No disrespect to Oxford and the other 2 that went up but they where bang average to say the least. We were out of the relegation zone after 7 or 8 games, even with our minus 8. Maloney never said avoiding relegation was his aim, he actually said it was getting out the bottom 4 then see where it takes us.
I have a different opinion to you, so have many others, there is no need to be aggressive against them buddy, just chill and see what unfolds. I really want Maloney to do well, I will be behind him 100% at the start of next season, lets hope Danson is too. Lets also hope the off field shit is sorted too as its making fans angry and I can fully accept that. I don’t feel the need to tell them to feck off.
If I see the turgid slow passing game at the back and he cant decide on his starting 11, hence keeps making several changes each game, I wont be a happy bunny.
I do not want to hear 90 % of all post match interviews start with “I liked what I saw in the first half, I didn’t like what I saw in the second.” It got as boring as the slow passing game he persisted with for the games in between the great start to the season and the last few games.
Enjoy the close season buddy. :good:

If you think I was jumping up & down for joy at some of our performances last season, then you & every other supporter are clearly mistaken. But I was prepared to be patient & put up with things. And I can see the bigger picture.

We were never ever going to get promoted last season, & anyone who thought that, were deluded IMO!

Same to yourself & all other Tics fans & enjoy the close season. Roll on 24/25.

Look the seasons overwith it’s now all about Danson’s Dosh. Is he prepared to spend and back Maloney or is he expecting to perform miracles and pull more rabbits out the hat.

I just hope Danson’s intentions aren’t based simply ground ownership and not improving the squad.

It’s like buying a £500 car then expecting run clockwork for a few years without investing in it.

Fingers crossed Maloney gets a bit of cash and he uses it well otherwise the season after next wont be about challenging for promotion but more like a yearly re-building job abit like painting forth bridge.
