23 April 2017 at 3:34 am #158327That lad gets through more break up play than any other player… he does a lot of unnoticed work horc.
He ain’t a flair player, he’s a defensive mid which is why you don’t see him up front. Interesting how you pick him out for being shot shy when we have so called “flair” players who do absolutely jack s***.He just bores the tits off me.

Seems like we’ve identified our scapegoat then. Among the plethora of average, inept, negative, unimaginative midfielders in our squad he’s come out tops.

No, certainly not, the shit season is not his fault, he does the dull, boring negative job he is told to do. The fact that he plays that game and has no positive aspects to the role he plays is down to the manager.

Managers Horc, between the lot of them they have sent us to League l.

Goes a bit deeper than just managers donny
23 April 2017 at 5:53 am #158332Certainly does D.J. Banks.
23 April 2017 at 10:34 am #158334Some bollocks being talked about mac Donald here. He is a genuine candidate for POS, along with Burn and Warnock.
He’s a grafter not a flair player and has been worth his place in every game I have seen, certainly that can’t be said of many/any other latics players this season.23 April 2017 at 10:41 am #158335When Caldwell signed Macdonald, he disjointed his title winning side. Suddenly, he started playing Perkins, last seasons player of the year in the DM role, at right WB and other positions. It puzzled me why he did this, it changed the teams whole structure and dynamic, and basically “broke up the band”.
Like, if U2 suddenly switched The Edge to playing Bass.
Not Macdonald’s fault, but I honestly think that’s where a lot of Caldwell’s failings started, though as I have said, I’m not sure it was he who wanted the signing anyway.
23 April 2017 at 11:09 am #158337Think I agree with you on that vat. Problem is that mac Donald and Perkins are too alike or at least asked to play similar roles, and as mac Donald has the edge he has been selected ahead of perks. That said defensive mids aren’t the problem, it’s the central attacking ones where we have fell short..Powers not been up to it and Gilbeys injury scuppered us.
23 April 2017 at 12:18 pm #158338Out of that list, i can only see powell asking for a move, or an offer being put in for him. An offer might come in for burn, but i think he’ll stay.
With a decent manager, that team should reach league 1 play-offs at least.
23 April 2017 at 12:20 pm #158339As for macdonald being boring. THAT is his job.

Bad, bad mistake, from the manager that signed him too. Just bizarre. Had we had him all season, I feel he would’ve made a big difference.
Runcornlatic1978- I too can see Powell being the only one generating any interest, or possibly wanting away. If we can keep him, he can be huge for us next season, though a change in formation and style may be needed. Imagine Powell playing an AM role, behind Bogle and Grigg. Reminiscent of the Liddell, Barlow and Haworth days. Maybe a 3-4-1-2 formation. More attacking…a bit more gung-ho, but let’s go at these teams and smash league one to pieces!
23 April 2017 at 1:47 pm #158345Does anyone this would be a good set up for next season if we keep them all.m
1-gilks
2-Daniels
3-Warnock
4-Morgan/Buxton
5-burn
6-morsy
7-power
8-colclough/Gilbey
9-Jacobs
10-Grigg
11-bogle23 April 2017 at 2:24 pm #158348Or Powell in for power

11-bogleNo Powell? I’d have Luke Burke as a right back, but yeah, as a back 3 I’d have him in. (Daniels)
Centre mid of Morsy, Byrne…if a DM, Macdonald as well behind them. If an AM, Powell in front of them. Power,Gilbey,Jacobs and Colclough battling for wide mid roles.
Id use the crux of what we will still have in the summer as our first 11 basis. Bring maybe 4 players in to add further strength, but not loans. Maybe get one loan player, someone in the ilk of Conor McAleny who we had last season and did well.
