17 January 2020 at 12:27 am #184084Oh how times have changed, when we sold our best ever striker (Mickey Quinn) to a bigger club (Stockport). Who would have thought back then that the mighty Rossoneri would one day be courting one of our players.
We allegedly paid Stockport to take him off our hands according to a bloke at a Larry Lloyd tribute night in 2012.
What a decision that was if true !17 January 2020 at 1:10 am #184086I heard that at the time vince, didn’t he have a scrap with Lloyd?
17 January 2020 at 8:53 am #184092According to wikipedia Lloyd thought he was too inexperienced at higher level after we won promotion and he left on a free.
17 January 2020 at 9:38 pm #184102He’s been about the only player who consistently tries to go forward.
All well and good, but he’s a defender who can’t defend[/quote]
…..or cross a ball
Good athlete is what he is, with quick feet……but …
17 January 2020 at 11:32 pm #184106I think it was another player ( surname that sounds like a grimy Cumbrian town) that allegedly offered to have a one to one private ‘meeting’ On the field near springy.
I thought he came across as quite cocky and full of himself at that evening event 8 years ago and seemed that when he was at the club also in my view.
In the promotion clinching game against Mansfield town at springy in 1982 I witnessed him screaming blue murder at some young lads that encroached on the pitch after a goal was scored , he was playing that day .it wasn’t nice to see and I can still picture it to this day.
Bear in mind that this was a huge game at the time to celebrate the clubs first ever football league promotion.
Most players and managers welcomed that kind of thing back as long as it was peaceful back then and I remember running on after Mick Quinn score his first ever goal and him thanking us for the adulation.Never understood the decision to let this fine striker leave and what we wouldn’t give to have a player as good as he was today .
I went off him completely when I witnessed that reaction from joyful supporters celebrating an important goal.
Brian Clough was also very scathing about him in his books also.17 January 2020 at 11:51 pm #184108O’Keefe?
18 January 2020 at 12:22 pm #184120Always seemed a nice down to earth guy when I met him
24 January 2020 at 4:12 pm #184281Reports are £10 million !!,
The Royles will have a hard on like a Vim bottle with a tomato sat on top. Some brownie points there when they report back to Hong Kong,
“Look at the bag of money we’ve got for you !!, you’ve enough there to sort out a One Direction reunion and X Games Finals at the DW”.

24 January 2020 at 4:35 pm #184283It wasn’t funny the first time
24 January 2020 at 4:38 pm #184285I’d snap their hands off for £10m
24 January 2020 at 11:20 pm #184289Snap hands , legs , in fact decapitate the whole carcus for that money.
Been arguably our best player and far better when in attacking positions.
Hell of a move for our most hardworking and committed player and he deserves his big break if it comes.
Good luck to the young lad I say25 January 2020 at 12:42 am #184290Snap hands , legs , in fact decapitate the whole carcus for that money.

Good luck to the young lad I sayI totally agree with you vince and he’s my vote for player of the year so far. As his unofficial (official) agent , can you negotiate a deal where we get £10 million and Milan loan him back to us for the rest of the season?
25 January 2020 at 1:42 am #184291His pace and work rate is second to none however just needs to work on his final ball especially in wide positions.
I personally think he could have filled the Powell role in a more central position and I think he was tried there at back end of last season and did really well.
Would be pleased to see him get that move and I really mean that even though I would be sorry to see him go. A great success story if it comes off.
Just needs some work on his passing distribution and he’ll have some career in front of him.25 January 2020 at 3:15 am #184295He is improving all the time, don’t know how with our set up, but a transfer to AC Milan would be a major feather in our cap.
Plus we have cover in this position and maybe a better Robinson in our youth team
How much is your commission vince?
