The Villareal page mentioned way above says “Marco Ruben will be carrying on his career with Villareal as he has not reached a final agreement for his transfer to Wigan, and so the 23-year-old striker will continue with the Yellows, under the management of Juan Carlos Garrido.
The manager is named because he is manager of Villareal B, not the first team manager. I think as well that “carrying on his career” has a slightly different connotation in English – it implies a long-term look at life – maybe a better translation (but less literal) is that “he is stopping”.
OK – here we go.
Villareal stop the transfer of Marco Rubens
Marco Rubens, the Argentine striker of Villareal B. who had announced on Monday his transfer to Wigan, has returned to his team-mates as he has not concluded the deal which would bring him to the English club.
At the last moment on Monday differences between the clubs about fine details of the contract stopped the deal (“paralysed the operation!!”), causing the player to cancel his trip to London on Tuesday afternoon under the orders of Villareal.
Sources close to the club and to the player indicate that the deal is not dead but further discussions will take place in the hope of finding a solution to the situation.
In the meantime the Argentine goalscorer does not want to make any statements after the training session on Tuesday, despite his clear disappointment about this setback.
Villareal had accepted an initial offer of about 4.5 million Euros, an amount which could increase with results. It is this latter point that is the sticking point between the two clubs.
