We couldnt attract that type of manager in the prem days vat. Sounds as though youve lost pretty much everything you knew about football
26 November 2019 at 12:53 pm #182304We deffo had more money than every team in League one and had more than majority of Championship. Whelan pumped more money into the club than we have ever seen. The wealthiest clubs generally do the best. Of the top 5 currently 3 are in the top 5 attendances. Of the bottom 8 4 have amongst the worst attendances in the league.
Last year we had two players in Powell and James who would have cost about 30 million to buy and we have replaced with unproven league one players, an academy starlet and a couple of has beens. We don’t have money for much else and as egg has stated with the crowds we currently have its hardly gonna get better. We are in one of the biggest leagues in the world and have less than 9000 fans. How are we gonna compete on any level? Cooks kept us up and has so far kept us out the relegation places this year. For all the passion some of you show on here I don’t see many Cook Out flags at the game or the fans chanting for his head. Rarely heard as much as a boo. So stop the talk and threats to boycott. Get to the game and demand his removal. Or is Primark more appealing VAT?
Youve all got me very wrong. If Cook is still in the dugout, I wont be there. But I won’t be anywhere near the shops either. Itll be a football bet and an afternoon sat in the warmth, not pissing about shopping.
I cannot stand another home game sat in freezing cold, watching that tedious shite. I feel the club will take the piss if we get beat again tomorrow night and he is still in charge on Saturday. Really taking the piss.
And if the powers that be wont act, then why should I bother on Saturday?
Sod it. I dont have to justify myself to anyone. Its up to me whether I boycott or not.
It seems to me that you are only interested in the club when it’s doing well. If you’re going to boycott games when we’re crap, you may as well boycott the games altogether. I’m not happy with the way things are at the moment. But work permitting, I will always be there giving my support through good times & bad.
Listen pal, I was there throughout the Swain era, Philpotts, etc, so dont give me all that shit.
Im working Sat night, and so thats another reason why I wont be enduring more of this shite on Saturday. Im boycotting the game because we have a bellend of a manager, and if the board and chairman cant see fit to change, why should I even bother?
You cant seriously enjoy that ice box morgue of a stadium? No atmosphere at all at the moment. Ive a season ticket but until we make a change, Im not going. Its gone on far too long.
Its my choice anyway. I will do what I want.
26 November 2019 at 1:00 pm #182305We couldnt attract that type of manager in the prem days vat. Sounds as though youve lost pretty much everything you knew about footballDid we ever fucking try?
Every appointment reeked of cronyism.
Jewell was ex player…then Hutchings his number 2…Bruce ex manager and pal of Whelan…Martinez, ex player and prodigal son….Never even tried to bring in an outsider in the Premier League. A lot was down to having guys in charge who would work to Whelans mantra “keep us up, bring in cheap foreigners, and sell on at huge profit”
So for you to say we ‘never attracted that kind of manager in the Premier League’ is a piss poor argument. We never tried to.
We have a yes man here now as well, and as long as the owners can string it out, the better it is for them. Not us…THEM. Its the only reason he is still in the job. Any other club wouldve sacked him ages ago, but theres an hidden agenda here. If you cant see it, you are deluded.
Clubs fucked.
26 November 2019 at 1:31 pm #182307I think people are quite right to boycott games if they want too its a decision everyone has a right to do people can spend their money how they want
And if paying good money to watch shyte and im talking more about away matches that can in some cases run into hundreds
Unfortunately this negative feeling is now how alot of people are developing at home games and fans are staying away in their hundreds if not thousands
Even myself having watched latics since early 70s its hard to watch as for away games well given up with them you can bet we will score first and throw it away and losing is now the norm in my thinking
Cook personally is a nice guy but way out of his depth could say clueless at this level but its down to the players on the day
And the players we have are not upto this level league one at best but its not their fault the problem is its the manager he can only attract league one players to our club
But when cook leaves if he leaves who can we get replace him who can bring in better quality
Worrying times
But cook must go because more will stay away he has lost the fans backing poor decisions costing us games same old week in week out
And i for one dont blame anyone for boycotting games its their choice their money26 November 2019 at 2:32 pm #182310We couldnt attract that type of manager in the prem days vat. Sounds as though youve lost pretty much everything you knew about football

Having problems shutting that door Dave?
26 November 2019 at 4:27 pm #182312Admins – can we please change the title from “fuck him off” to “sack him”, or something less offensive – its not very nice keep seeing this at the top of the thread
26 November 2019 at 6:52 pm #182314If we continue this run of form I wonder at what stage do the pro Cook posters believe we should wield the axe???? Shall we wait till new year ? Or maybe just accept relegation? Agree with Bickymon that everyone has a right to not attend games ….its called a choice. All this about being there through thick/thin no matter how bad it gets is again their choice. Ultimately we can not contemplate a return to league 1 and the financial noose it would create….the big earners would be offloaded and as Sunderland are finding it’s not a cake walk back to championship. Our club is not in a position to navigate relegation and it’s long reaching pitfalls so surely we all want to be given a fighting chance of turning it around ??? Its too big a risk for me to continue to let Cook have that responsibility…….The owners ultimately make that decision taking advice from those on the ground here and so far they’re playing Russian roulette with our club……..get Cook out please .
26 November 2019 at 8:47 pm #182317Dave is once again in meltdown mode telling everyone on here he will not be going whilst Cook is in the dugout, or at least he won’t be going Saturday because he’s working later that night. Seems he’s already lining himself up a get out clause.
Of course everyone has the right not to attend matches for whatever reason they choose. If he’s so bothered about Cook as manager and the future of the club in general why doesn’t he do something about it such as finding like-minded people and arranging a protest inside the ground – banners and so on – or organising a general stay-away boycott, Blackpool style, rather than fuelling his own agenda by spouting off on here how bad things are and declaring (shakes head in disbelief) “the club’s fucked”.
Regardless of how bad the away record is and how frustrating it is to constantly drop points in the last few minutes of games most supporters are realists and understand the limitations of the club and that sacking managers is not always, too many times in our case, the answer.

I wont be there Saturday either as I too will be working. Oh how I miss the commentary on WISH.
As I said in my other post, no I’m not enjoying things. I dont think any of us are at the moment. But the club needs our support through good times & bad.
