      Sabin.

Story goes he was on Cribley’s testimonial committee in ’91 and has played on it ever since, getting freebies from the club.

I’ve heard its amazing how many different Brian Sabin’s actually collect free tickets at away ticket offices…..only for him to turn up later and be told they’ve already been collected.

always walked slow with walking stick, but soon as we arrived at away ground off the coach like a wippet
so he could get his freebie

Actually Phil Daley scored the goal. Ball was crossed in from the left by Tankard if I remember correctly. At that time they had just removed the roof off the away end and the following look particularly sparse in an away end that held more than 3k.

If you are right, then you really do have an amazing memory!

I’m not convinced it was Daley who scored. BIGROY said it was Jimmy Carberry, or ‘Carbattery’ as he was often called. I thought Gary Worthington. I do recall we scored at the opposite end. I definitely remember that West Brom came back and absolutely hammered us, making us almost certain to go down.

Our team contained the likes of Winston White and Steve Nugent, didn’t it? That West Brom team were a decent side, and they got promoted, I am sure.
