Not good enough last night on the field, for whatever reason. I’m sure that’s been covered elsewhere on 1000’s of posts calling for Martinez to go and Whelan to sell up or spend a billion pound etc.
However, the attitude of a number of our fans was appalling. We took a good following, 1500 maybe, with lots of old face’s there.
It seemed to be a bit of an eye opener for the Premier League only lot
Some lads behind us (when I say lads they were old enough to know better) seemed to be disgusted at the thought that Premier League Wigan could be getting beat 3-0 by “Blackpool…. I don’t even know what league they are in but they are S*ite”
“I’m not coming to this shitole watching Wigan again they shouldn’t even be allowed to open the ground when it’s like this”
Never saw Springfield Park then I take it?
We will never, ever be an established Premier League team, we have been punching above our weight for a while now and if some people had bothered to show an interest in the towns football team before 2005 they might have known that getting beat at Blackpool and places like that was part for the course. When we were in the Championship we took great delight in upsetting teams who had the attitude “we should be beating teams like Wigan” its pretty embarrassing if we are going down that road

True. We are still a Championship club, at best. The sooner we get back there and stop dreaming of things that are far beyond our capability and ambition, or rather that of the ‘powers that be’, the better.
It’s like we’re ‘playing’ at being a top flight club. It’s as if Whelan’s playing a game like “We’re in the Premiership….great…..but we’re not going to back that up with decent signings…..and we’ll see how long we can stretch it out for”.
Been bloody lucky so far. Escaped on GOAL DIFFERENCE at Sheff Utd, and other seasons, other clubs were so poor, it made it easier. It’s not going to happen this season.
27 August 2009 at 12:44 pm #6918Don’t know about anybody else, and I certainly don’t want us to go down ( or think we will ) but, I enjoyed the whole football experience of match days when we were a Championship team far more than this money orientated, stressful bollox.
BTW….2 veg = gonads.
Yellow water.

I loved the aways, at places like Leicester, Derby, West Brom, Cardiff, etc. Some crackin days there.
Worrying thing is, we get relegated and the ‘cream’ of our team, and I use that phrase lightly at this time, will leave. (Good riddance, start again?)
But last night, we saw a ‘fringe’-ish side, the sort we’d be left with, get truly tonked by a Championship side. In all honesty, if we go down and don’t shape ourselves, we could easily “Do a Forest” or a Leeds. Much bigger clubs have dropped like a stone
27 August 2009 at 12:52 pm #6923I think we need a sense of perspective on the field here.
its early days, we have played 3 league games.
27 August 2009 at 1:08 pm #6928What would it take to get some of you showing feelings? Humiliated by Blackpool and alls well?
27 August 2009 at 1:17 pm #6930Reserves lost in a League Cup game at Blackpool, its not the end of the world is it?
What are we having here? A competition to see who can get carried away the most ?
27 August 2009 at 1:19 pm #6933What would it take to get some of you showing feelings? Humiliated by Blackpool and alls well?Too many ‘Happy Clappers’ follow Latics, mate. The ‘glass is half-full brigade’. Anybody who is still relaxed about things after that capitualation last night, mustn’t be a proper fan. That’s all I can think. I’ve slated Bruce like crazy, but at least we did the simple things right. Now, we look like a bunch of blokes who have just met for a kickabout.
I do wonder if our coaching staff are experienced enough at the top level? We have Graham Barrow warming the players up…….we got him from Altrincham, didn’t we? Dear god, his past history at the club apart, would ANY other top-flight club have gone to Altrincham for staff? Would they hell.I know we’re sh*t, and YOU know we’re sh*t. God knows what other people are seeing.
Shat it this season, I tell thee.

Take it you never went last night then.

Yep, i did thanks.
I wasn’t keen on what i say but its early days.
In the early days of the Jewell reign we lost 5-0 at Wrexham (i went to that too, did you??) but he was given time and it didnt turn out to bad in the end really???

Didn’t Whelan railroad the team after that one though? I used to love going to Wrexham, as it happens. Thought they had a decent footballing side, circa 1998-99. Was a fan of David Brammer.
Worrying thing for me is that it was still a team that you would expect to do much better, than getting tonked 4-1. It just shows that what we have in ‘reserve’ or as backup, has the heart and will, of a potato.
I bet Whelan’s praying that King get’s jailed, so he can fire him off for nothing.
27 August 2009 at 1:36 pm #6943I agree……cant Whelan terminate his contract over this court affair anyway?

I did, and it wasnt as bad as last night!
I have been watching um since 1602 have you?
27 August 2009 at 1:44 pm #6945yeah…
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
5-0 at Wrexham in an autoglass trophy game is better than last night?
I give up; you win. You are the biggest fan, cos your more worried than me.
27 August 2009 at 2:30 pm #6954Bog difference, we wasn’t facing Everton, West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal for the next 4 games. Also the players were not replacements
for the millions of pounds worth of talent we had just sold. Tell me, when will you become worried, or does the future of our club not concern you? -
