Be warned…. I’ve heard that a chartered flight in and out in one hit, you will be looking at over £400, possibly nearer £500. If it is ‘packaged’ with hotel and done in two days (going Wednesday, returning straight after game), I dread to think what the cost could be.

Flights at the moment are in the region of £125 return (but from London), hotels are as cheap as £35 per person per night in a 4*…..

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

I have been in contact with a flight charter company for a couple of months, I use their freight department for shipping our equipment world wide so made contact as soon as we won the FA Cup, it was arranged that when we knew our destinations I would be back to see if we could sort out a deal.

On Friday I approached them again with some further details on Monday, saying what we might need etc.

The flights are based on travel from Liverpool to Maribor direct, which happens to be about 10Km from the city/ground, returning straight after the game.

This is a copy of the quotation sent to me early this afternoon:-

        Hi Xxxxxx,

Thanks for the email and call.
I have quoted 3 different aircraft the A320 (168 seats), B757 (202 seats) and B767 (265 seats) to give you various options. I have looked at a couple of rotations on the same aircraft and the problem that you will run into is the schedule, the first flight would need to depart at 0530 to allow the second flight to arrive at 1600 Local. The risk would be any small delay and the fans might be late for the match, I am happy to quote this if you still wanted to look at this option.

The other thing to point out is the airport closes at 1800z but I am sure they would extend their opening hours but there would be a cost to this which I unfortunately do not have this at the moment. From experience other airports charge around £2000-£3000 to give you an idea.

In line with other football fan charters I have not included catering instead I have included a buy on board bar. Catering is an option for an extra charge.

        Pricing as follows –

        Quote Ref: 6797643
Date: 12th Dec 13 Day stop
        Route: LPL-MBX-LPL
        Flight Time: 02:20

        Type: A320 (168Y)

        Payload: 168 Passengers
Price: £63,200.00 GBP net of commission

        Type: B757-200 (202Y)

        Payload: 202 Passengers
Price: £72,600.00 GBP net of commission

        Type: B767-300ER (265Y)

        Payload: 265 Passengers
Price: £96,400.00 GBP net of commission

Price includes all landing, handling, airport passenger taxes and APD.

Price excludes any further increase in fuel price, de-icing, all airport out of hour / extension charges.

        Fuel based on Sept 13.

Let me know if you need anything else, if you decide to take the next step we arrange a meeting, Jeff says he is due come up and see you sometime shortly so perhaps we can kill two birds with one stone.

        Thanks Karl

If you do the maths the average cost is between about £350 to £375 per seat dependant on which plane, it does not include any profit for the organisers, any insurance costs, the operator (me) would have to acquire ABTA bonding or take on an ABTA bonded partner to underwrite the liability, this is UK law if you are selling seats on to a third party(fans), there also could be fuel surcharge increases added to overall cost.

One thing that came out of this, the chap who I dealt with stated that they are not the cheapest in the market, that 2 other companies would be cheaper, I had already approached these companies, and hopefully something can be arranged to suit our pockets.

My brother went to Slovenia recently. He flew to Venice and then drove, as the cost and timings didn’t work for him. He said it took about 3 hours to reach his destination from Venice airport.

Several low-cost airlines fly to Venice. Ryanair also fly from Stanstead to Trieste (even closer) on Wed 11, returning Friday 14 Dec for around £65 return.

Good luck in finding a cheap way!

Correct Methven, the right way to do this trip is with Lufthansa through Frankfurt or Munich to Graz. With changeover comes to about 4hrs travel time. Graz is closer to Maribor than Ljubijana and the train takes half hour for about 25 quid. Easyjet from heathrow is now at about 185 return its a no brainer to go from Manchester as your ale and a bit of jackbit is inc on Lufthansa. I’ve never been to Graz but it isn’t as expensive as the rest of Austria and has several brewery’s charging about 3e for half a litre of beer. Maribor itself looks good but I’m inclined to return to Graz as its a bigger place and the Christmas markets will be on. Bit gutted as I wanted to get to Ljubijana but probably won’t now.

we’re planning 3 nights in Graz and 2 in Maribor. There is no way I wanted to get back to the UK after a 4-5 hour flight then drive back from London for the sake of 30 quid. think we land about 12ish on Sunday…time to get back to the Springy for a swift one the off to the match :D

Scratch that 25 quid train as well, that was Amsterdam to Bruges heads all wobbly.

Think the Graz train was more like 8 quid. Forget now with all these European permutations rattling round in this little shell of mine.

For anyone intersted best I could do for Kazan was £420 13 hours, 2 changes, Frankfurt and Moscow. Plane sounded like a fritner from Moscow mind.
I’m thinking the club will charter a plane to Kazan, which will need to be a fair size to get there. Might have some spare seats, if you can get a visa sorted.

Those aircraft are all from the Titan Airways fleet – more commonly used to fly teams around rather than supporters. They are usually the most expensive on the market.

There are much cheaper options in the market.

If you want to charter and run your own mini tour operation, you need and ATOL licence not ABTA. (ABTA is for travel agents who sell on pre-packaged holdays and tours. ATOL is for companies who want to create their own tours), so if you’re serious about doing this, I can put in touch with the MD of the company that have been doing it for supporters of every club, the tartan army englandfans for the past twenty-odd years.

Let me know and I’ll put you in touch with him.

You’d easy have enough interest if you went out Thursday am coming back Saurday or Sunday straight out of Manchester. I’d look at the cost of Graz v Ljubjiana too.

It would be a good trip would be too expensive to charter an aircraft for that.

You would either have to pay for the aircraft to be out of operation for four days, or you’d have to pay for two return trips (there and back on Thursday, there and back on Sunday).

I’ve already booked 19 of us going out on 11th morning back on 13th evening – Flights to Zagreb from London, sorted coach over here and over there, plus Hotel for two nights for less than £280…

FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

                    #120645

Standish my mistake I should have said ATOL , I had spent all day yesterday on sorting ferries and coaches and talking to charter airlines so needed to do my paying work into the early hours so I wasn’t exactly on the ball.

Yes it was Titan, as I said we use a sister company in their group so it was my first port of call.

I have had mail in the last hour that may actually give us some hope of sorting a direct flight out to the game, as you said in answer to someone else if we stay over in Maribor it means the plane makes 2 journeys or parks up at the airport over there for a number of days either way this will add to the cost of one flight waiting on the Tarmac for our return.

As for your offer of help, it would be really welcome as I am not just doing this as an exercise I really want it to happen so yes please.

I have noticed there is no PM facility any longer on here*** , but I set an email address up as a contact for the coach trips an if this trip gets off the ground( excuse the pun) it is

                    wiganineurope@hotmail.co.uk

Can you mail me a phone nber and return mail address so I can contact you ASAP
                    Thanks
