Will it be on the box ! :)
5 September 2013 at 3:59 pm #120648I’ve already booked 19 of us going out on 11th morning back on 13th evening – Flights to Zagreb from London, sorted coach over here and over there, plus Hotel for two nights for less than £280…Sounds a pain to honest JT when you can go from Manch for the same money and less time actually travelling.
5 September 2013 at 4:00 pm #120649You’d easy have enough interest if you went out Thursday am coming back Saurday or Sunday straight out of Manchester. I’d look at the cost of Graz v Ljubjiana too.
It would be a good trip would be too expensive to charter an aircraft for that.
You would either have to pay for the aircraft to be out of operation for four days, or you’d have to pay for two return trips (there and back on Thursday, there and back on Sunday).[/quote]
see your point Standish

No you can’t.
The cheapest flight from Manchester to Zagreb at the moment is £217. Add the cost of
your travel to and from Zagreb and you’re already close to the £280 with a hotel still to book. The cheapest from Manc to Ljubijana is over £300 and then of course you have to get from there to Maribor.
If you were to fly to Graz it would cost you over £400.

What do you mean “no you can’t”?
“Yes you could” is probably the way you should have put it.Not wanting to piss too much on your chips egghead but it was £227 to Graz yesterday, through Frankfurt. Same as it was £100 with Easyjet from Heathrow to Ljubjiana when the draw first came out, which I missed out on.
What an absolutely pointless reply to my post.

6 September 2013 at 12:42 pm #120679As well as the cost consideration (not insignificant) there’s also the time consideration for some of us. I don’t get sick pay / holiday pay so every day off work has to be factored into the overall cost, plus I do get grief sometimes for the amount of time football invades our family life, so for me it has to be in and out of the games as quickly and cheaply as possible.
Looking at train to Heathrow Wednesday night after work, budget hotel / mates floor in London then return to Zargreb (125 quid) leaving early Thursday am returning to Heathrow Friday afternoon. Hire car in Zargreb airport for 24 hours (seen quotes for less than 20 quid – including snow tyres :-)). Hotel in Maribor Thursday night. The biggest difficulty has been finding reasonably priced travel Wigan to Heathrow and back, keeping my eye out for cheap trains, but if anyone wants to offer 2 of us a lift I’d be very happy6 September 2013 at 2:41 pm #120682Just seen this on the fixture list on official site
PLEASE NOTE THAT WIGAN ATHLETIC ADVISE SUPPORTERS NOT TO MAKE ANY TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS TO AWAY EUROPEAN GAMES UNTIL VENUES ARE CONFIRMED AND WHERE POSSIBLE TO TRAVEL WITH OFFICIAL TRAVEL PARTNERS

Yes – I saw that, but ultimately if we wait till the club organise something any chances of getting flights and hotels if we’re planning to stay longer go out of the window.
There are no indications that games will be anywhere other than so far suggested. Rule 12.10 of the Europa League regulations says:
In principle, a club must play all its matches in the competition at one and the
same ground. Matches may be played either at the ground of the home club
or at another ground in the same or another city within the territory of its
association, or, if so decided by the UEFA administration and/or the UEFA
disciplinary bodies, in the territory of another UEFA member association for
reasons of safety or as a result of a disciplinary measure. In principle, venues
are approved only if direct international flights and/or charter flights are able to land within an acceptable distance of the venue, in the country of the club
concerned. If the match is being played in another city or country, the venue is
subject to the approval of the UEFA administration. So – Waregem will play their games in Bruges because their ground isn’t up to standard, and there is no suggestion that Maribor will play anywhere other than their own stadium. After all, we’d be a bit p’ed off if we played in Manchester, wouldn’t we?
The only doubt maybe Rubin switching their game due to weather considerations, but again there is no suggestion of that.
As for the date, regulation 12.01 says
All matches are played according to the UEFA Match Calendar (see
Annex Ic). These dates are final and binding on all concerned, subject to the
provisions of paragraphs 12.07, 12.08 and 12.09. The following principles
apply to this competition:
a) UEFA Europa League matches are played on Thursdays (apart from the
final). Exceptions to this rule may be set by the UEFA administration.Again, exceptions are when there is another European tie within 50km, when fixtures home/away may be swapped, but we would have heard about that before now, I would suggest.
