For those travelling down to Heathrow on the Wednesday, Premier Inn are running a sale at the moment (aren’t they always) and I’ve just booked a twin room at the Premier Inn at Heathrow for 39 quid.

A quick search will find you this so I don’t know where you’re looking

Manchester (MAN) to Graz (GRZ): Departing: Thu 12 Dec – Returning: Sun 15 Dec

Date Departure Arrival Flight Duration Cabin
          Thu 12 Dec 07:15Manchester 10:15 Munich LH2505 3h55 Economy (K)
Thu 12 Dec 11:15Munich 12:10 Graz LH2342 Operated by Lufthansa Cityline Economy (K)
          Sun 15 Dec 12:50Graz 13:45 Munich LH2343 Operated by Lufthansa Cityline 5h00 Economy (K)
          Sun 15 Dec 15:40Munich 16:50 Manchester LH2502 Economy (K)
          Total Price Fare
(per person) Taxes, fees and carrier charges
          (per person) Passengers

          Total

          82.00 + 132.96 x 1 Adult = £ 214.96
Total Price for all passengers 214.96= £ 214.96

The difference being that the price JayT has quoted is for the LOT not just the flights. Now granted I don’t know how much it is to get from Graz to Maribor but the cost of your hotel takes you to around £250 and then there’s the risk of missing your connection seeing as you’ll need to be on the plane around 20 minutes before departure giving you 40 minutes to get off the plane, through security TWICE and then to whichever gate/terminal you’re flying from.

          I used skyscanner btw.

You normally don’t go through security again if you are “plane side” – you just head to a different gate.

We’re changing in Paris with about an hour turnaround.

I always have when flying to Australia.

Even if you don’t do security you’re relying on your initial flight being on time and your connection being close enough together.

Much rather be going direct tbh

Not true George, you go through passport contol and security on all transfers at CGD. Believe me, I did it every week for three years.

For European transfers though, you should be fine with an hour provided you land on time. However, whilst you might make it, your hold bags probably won’t.

Flights through Lufthansa on their own website, booked all together there’ll be no problem connecting. You would be hard pressed to miss your connection anyway, as generally they’d hold the flight for you (unless stupid delay).
My original point was, it’s more hassle getting from here to London to get a flight to Zagreb, to get a transfer to Maribor than it is to go from Manchester walk through an airport get on a connecting flight to Graz and then transfer less distance. It will come out around the same money all in give or take a few pennies.

The fact that Jayt is having a mornings skiing is besides the point, as although I’m sure he’ll enjoy himself, I’ll say the same thing I say to any would be skier.
Get a fecking life! ;-) and don’t brekaleg.

When I looked into it I’m sure the price of a train ticket from Graz to Maribor was about 9euros – I think it’s only the equivalent distance of Manchester to Leeds.

It’s all down to personal preference I guess. I was quoted flights from Manchester to Graz of about £225 quid with a change in Munich like above. Having only ever had to get a connecting flight once (in Zurich) when I travelled from Manchester to Johannesburg & experiencing that whilst they delay the plane to let you get on you arrive at your eventual destination with no bags & having to spend 2 days in pretoria in just the clothes I’d travelled in (my travellers cheques were in my case), I preferred the option for Slovenia of 3 of us travelling to & from Stansted for a £65 return flight & a 13euro 1hr 45min train journey fro Ljubljana to Maribor

So in effect you’re still doing the change, only they wouldn’t hold the flight for you as it would be classed a seperate booking?

At least you’d be able to sit in an airport in this country with a change of clothes, if your first flight is delayed ;)

How anyone gets there doesn’t really matter as long as everyone gets there and it’s safe when they do get there.

Kicked off in Ukraine today people stabbed, that’s 2 days before the game in a place where the world cup was held. Could be they saw their chance with the numbers,(compared to the world cup) which is what we’ll have to watch out for over there.

                #120857

The Ukraine is a different country. Kiev to Kazan is 1,000 miles. However, racist chanting against black players is common in Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

In a recent survey, Moscow Protestant Chaplaincy found that over half of Africans in Moscow had been physically attacked in the past. Attacks in the Moscow Metro are common, and “monkey” insults are so frequent that students have ceased reporting them.

In Russian slang, Caucasian peoples fall into the category of black, despite the fact that almost all of them are white-skinned. In December 2010, there was a massive outbreak of hostility towards Caucasians, culminating in nationalist protests in Moscow and in other cities.

A string of violent attacks by Islamic militants has shattered [Kazan’s] reputation as a citadel of religious tolerance and unnerved federal officials in Moscow, who have worked for decades to prevent the spread of radical Islam out of the southern borderlands and into places like this city 500 miles east of Moscow.

11 April 2013; In Moscow, Rubin Kazan won a thrilling match 3-2 against Chelsea, though the result was not good enough to see them through, in front of a crowd of just 20,000 at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, a ground with a capacity of just under 80,000. Their usual stadium, the 28,500-capacity Central Stadium in Kazan, is an 11-hour drive away from Moscow.

The attendance in the Luzhniki was in fact a season high for a Rubin home-leg at this stadium in the Europa League – against Atletico Madrid there were just 3,000 in the stadium and against Levante a meagre 1,000 people turned up.

In their own stadium however, the Rubin fans do offer firm support. In the group stages against Azerbaijani minnows Neftchi Baku 15,000 attended, and 18,000 were in their ground when Internazionale rolled into town.

LMB’s day trip with Sport Options is now available online:

                  http://www.sportoptions.com/Wigan-in-Europe/index.asp

£285 – and can be paid in instalments.

For a day trip on a private charter flight, that’s actually very reasonable.

Did you hear about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac? He lay awake all night wondering if there really was a dog.
