The stadium is run down and needs a tonne of money thrown at it and with the cost of living at a all time high the weekly bills to keep it going are literally through the roof.
Both codes know this and the rugby do not bring in enough money to run it even with us as tenants.Lennagan knows this and I promise you, if we go into admin and know one takes over the Latics there’s no way on this planet Lennagan would even consider taking over the stadium without Latics signing a rental agreement.
Give me a valid reason why Lennagan would take on the stadium and the huge financial cost of maintaining and daily cost with or without us ?
The upkeep is 12 months year and throughout the winter months with no sport taking place no income so for 4-5 months you’d be paying for it’s upkeep at a loss.
Our owners have been forking out at a loss and I’m sure tight arse Lennagan won’t do the same and lose millions a year and risk the same happening to them.
Me?, I think paying huge stupid wages to average players in League One along with the cost of the stadium upkeep has seen us off.30 players on the books and a vast chunk of them on £5k+ and a fair few on £10k is pure utter madness that beggars belief especially for a clubs that were days from going out of business.
I know one thing, Latics are not having my money I personally feel it’s disgusting what their doing, not paying players then asking us to fork out £370 not knowing if we’re stil going to be here in the summer ? if we fold you’ve lost your coin.
Season tickets should be suspended, period till this mess is sorted.AGAIN
As fans we need the fcukin truth no more bullsh1t cloak and dagger stuff we as fans after what we’ve been through should have the right to know18 March 2023 at 8:16 am #198839The club was dead to you Vat and you were never watching us again during admin, yet you came back.
It’s not as easy to walk away as we all think.
18 March 2023 at 8:17 am #198840These owners have never taken any money OUT of the club BTW. Only ever put money IN.
If they no longer have any, then we will have to survive from income alone. Why would we as fans make that income less than it already is?

18 March 2023 at 9:32 am #198843You’re right he will, because he will have to. Same as last time.
He doesn’t want it, but it also can’t be shut down.

If we do go into administration (really hope this does not happen) hopefully the administrators will insist the club and the stadium are sold as one ,something we have to thank Begbies for last time. I think you will agree with me Egg.
18 March 2023 at 10:48 am #198845But what happens if the owner then splits the club and the stadium (as the current, previous and whelan) did, and liquidates the club?
By forcing someone to buy something they have no interest in, it would make that more likely. The stadium is an expensive white elephant at the moment to whoever owns it. It was a vanity project – too big, and barely sustainable even when 15-20,000 fans showed up each week to premier league football and superleague. Now the premier league money has gone and the crowds have halved, the costs have increased.

Of course they will have interest in it, their team is going to play there and I firmly believe it is essential that the club and the stadium are kept together. I don’t think the stadium is the problem. From a footballing point of view it’s the astronomical costs of playing in the Championship , player wages have got out of control in the chase for the promised land of the Premier League. We may have to accept that sustaining a club at League One level ,at least for the time being is maybe the best way forward. Producing our own academy players and slowly building will be the way forward. At least we will still have our club and our own stadium to play in.
18 March 2023 at 11:40 am #198847As far as season tickets……. no one should renew. Seriously??…..Absolutely taking the pee with the clubs official statement. Then the audacity to try implement an early bird scheme with the management of our club and its future in disarray. Relegation looming certainly if we get dicked 3pts. Total information black out but hey ho can still arrange emails for renewal. No a f@@@@@@@ chance am I parting with any cash until they show some transparency…..truthfulness. We were here before them and will be long after so not a lot to ask is it ……show some genuine integrity and put us all in the picture.
18 March 2023 at 12:23 pm #198806Spot on cup winners we are fucked et muttyis loving this if we go under let’s hope bulldozer comes in and flattens the stadium rather than let the twats get hold of it
Sorry to disappoint you chap, but unlike you, I want every sporting club in Wigan to do well.
If you did Mutty you would support Wigan Athletic.
So by that logic, you are saying that every supporter of another football club is dancing a jig of joy at this situation, and you also danced a jig of joy at the plight of Derby & Bury? Plenty of football fans around the UK will want a good outcome here, which doesnt involve liquidation.
Maybe me wishing well for all areas of my home town make me more of a Wiganer than you.
18 March 2023 at 12:34 pm #198841Right .. gloves . off .. Mutty . Egg .. So glad you got all that off your chest. Now, welcome back to reality.
18 March 2023 at 12:37 pm #198851I wouldn’t be heaping too much praise for that on Begbies.
The land is owned by the council and can only be used for a sporting Stadium. Same with Christopher Park.
If they could have been sold to developers they 100% would have been.
Personally, I’d give both clubs a 50/50 stake but I support both.
Plenty is said about the rugby paying minimal rent, but they get no income from beer sales, food, hospitality beer sales etc so it’s a poor deal really. I’m sure they’d rather pay more and get some income from it.

Why should they get income from beer sales ,hospitality etc ? They are tenants and as such should pay rent . They pay a minimal amount compared to other clubs .Latics are not a charity and should be making as much money as they can from the stadium. I personally want Latics to remain owners of the stadium.
18 March 2023 at 1:44 pm #198855There’s ways to do both.
18 March 2023 at 1:47 pm #198856Not sure how much Latics actually make on bar sales these days with the Sodexo deal come to mention it
