Anyway, back on topic…
As I mentioned elsewhere….if the owners have decided not to put any further investment into the club then how does fans not buying season tickets help?
18 March 2023 at 2:47 pm #198858Those looking to renew have just under two weeks to decide if they want to take up the cheapest option. If at that point the situation is still unclear regarding the intentions of the owner then I would certainly think it unwise to renew unless you are willing to risk kissing goodbye to £300/£400. In the grand scheme of things I seriously doubt any season tickets sales are likely to be enough to guarantee the viability of the club.
18 March 2023 at 2:48 pm #198859There’s ways to do both.
There is but that would involve the Warriors paying a much higher rent something they are not willing to do hence the reason they are asking all their fans to purchase food and drink from the Robin Park Arena.
18 March 2023 at 3:27 pm #198860I do
I drink on the ground also btw.
18 March 2023 at 3:36 pm #198861The rugby aren’t going to pay a higher rent for less facilities.
They use it for 15 days a year. No office space, no storage space, nothing.
Would you pay £500 a month for a house with all bills paid (sounds a great deal) that they then tell you that you can only use for 15 days of the year and can’t keep your clothes or furniture in on the other days? Hull and Huddersfield pay more rent but both have offices in the stadium and keep their profits on matchdays.
Also, if you owned a pub, would you tell all your regulars to go and drink next door instead of in your pub?
The answers simple….
How much does it cost to host a game of RL? Wigan pay that, plus say 10% and then keep the profits.
Latics don’t even pay the catering staff anymore and I don’t think they even make any money from it. It’s all outsourced.

That’s not the argument. The Rugby want to pay minimal rent but still want a cut of profits from catering and drink sales. To do that they would have to pay substantially more in rent ,something they are not willing to do. Latics are not a charity there to help Wigan Warriors , they are trying to run a business .
18 March 2023 at 4:18 pm #198864I agree with that then yes.
Pay low rent, get no rewards

What should they be rewarded ?

It’s unlikely that funds for any season ticket sales collected/paid by credit card are actually going to the club. It is standard for credit card processors to have stipulations in their merchant agreements that allow them to withhold funds if they suspect financial risk or potential fraud – especially for ‘high risk’ transactions such as a season ticket sale where you are paying a large amount up front for future delivery of services. They constantly monitor their merchants financials/news, and would be aware of the missing wage payments, and that would likely trigger temporarily withholding the payments for these transactions to cover any potential future losses from the cardholders being denied services.
So, in that respect: you don’t have to be as worried about losing your money if you do purchase the season tickets (funds are likely being held for potential refund by the credit card processor); but, on the other hand, don’t purchase now just because you think it will help get funds to the club (It likely won’t). My guess is that likely had something to do with the season ticket program getting delayed/not being available last week (since the club isn’t likely going to get those funds, or at least not a good portion of them).

Sorry ,that should say ,why should they be rewarded? ( Shouldn’t try to post when I am following the game ).
26 March 2023 at 5:08 am #199085Early bird offer ends 31st March. Season ticket sales pulled for a few days after initial release (Technical issues)….Yeh whatever !!!. The club should be extending this offer due to the continued uncertainty surrounding us in the last few weeks. A further announcement must be pending outlining the owners latest future directive. Until then no one should even contemplate purchasing/renewing unless your comfortable with your money potentially vanishing without trace. I have 2 and unless the early bird price is extended then I will not renew. F£££ me ,whose fault is it some of us are now nervous/sceptical about parting with any cash ? Not everyone has credit cards for extra security and the installment plan still means they’re getting some of your money. So until I hear more or feel a bit more assured about our short and long term future then my renewals are on indefinite hold.
26 March 2023 at 8:23 am #199086After what has gone on these past few weeks, they have to extend the early bird offer. You can’t have such an offer, take it down, then expect folk to buy their ST’S within the next 5 days with no further mention of an early bird offer. Nor can they bump up the prices from April 1st with again no further mention of prices. Unless it will all turn out to be one massive April Fools joke – that none of us sees the funny side of.
27 March 2023 at 7:59 am #199092Firstly when you rent a property or unit you normally do an agreement long or short term not “how many days I turn up” agreement so that’s utter bollox the rugby only use it 15 days.
Season ticket renewal should be frozen (early bird prices) till the end of the season.
Let’s see were we are what League were in and more importantly if the club pay April and Mays wages before asking me to cough up.
It’s all good and fcukin well saying sorry but a proper explanation would have been far far better rather than a nice 1 word answer “liquidating” whatever the fcuk that means when it comes to Latics.I’d also like the 125% account set up and prove shown to the EFL. If not were just gonna keep getting penalised which is more penalty points.
I’m sorry but all the faith I had 2 years ago when they took over and saved us has gone. I thought if and when they do leave they will have built a stable financially sound club with a cracking youth set up and little debt.
What I see now is a cloak n dagger club run in a darkened closet not paying bills piling up debts and a youth system making little or no progress in its development.
All’s I’ve seen so far is a short term sprint to the finish line club who gained promotion at a huge cost. A poorly run club with little or no long term goals or direction.
A club blinded by the glamour lights of been 1 step off the Premiership before they got hit with a huge slap of reality at how much investment is needed to do that and who we are.I’ve been a season ticket for near 40 years but this is the first time I’ve seriously considering not renewing. Not because I don’t want to go I just do not trust the current owners.
If it was a one off mistake and we were punished fair do’s but this has gone on 4-5 times over 9 months so something is going on at the club and we haven’t a clue what. Before Egg steps in and says we shouldn’t have to know all the business dealings I agree but when your on the verge of administration I’d like to fcukin know why.
We need long term proof at least 12 months proof that there’s money to there to cover the running costs of the club.
Without this it’s like walking in a field of land mines with a blind fold on waiting to be blown straight into the Northern Counties League. We are a ticking time bomb with fan’s who look no further than the clubs Friday payday.
Sadly this is the current climate of football little or no money coming in, lots going out.27 March 2023 at 8:30 am #199097If he is popping over to pacify the restless natives then sorry but words are cheap. Let’s see proof the requested Efl fund is now in place, dosh to ensure the club has funding for the foreseeable future. How the f### dare they try to bribe us into purchasing a reduced price season ticket with all the shenanigans they’ve instigated. As stated previously we don’t know what punishment is in the pipeline, and apart from more hot air whether the wage issue won’t resurface again culminating in f### knows how many more penalties. 4 times “sorry miss I won’t do it again “…Even a stern Efl warning, suspended points deduction and fund stipulations still didn’t matter one iota. So before anyone sucks up more cheap excuses, and rushes to throw our money at them ……let’s see some real, documented proof that they’ve plugged the hull in our leaking financial situation and put in rock solid contingencies to guarantee this totally avoidable situation doesn’t happen again. Prices SHOULD be frozen …period !!!……All they’re doing is alienating the undecided or like me the suspicious!!!
27 March 2023 at 2:01 pm #199105Well, I’m keeping hold of my money until I can see what the future has in store for us !
Now, Talal needs to be aware that the club’s next pay day falls on the 7th of April and since it’s the bank holiday weekend the protocol would be to ensure that everyone is paid by the 6th April.
Shock & horror, I can almost hear the excuses now and another three points being docked.
Just hope I’m wrong. -
