I’m not really harsed tbh, as long as they get us back into the Prem and win the cup again that will do for me
13 November 2014 at 11:42 pm #135468Sorry for being a bit slow ive been out of the loop working away .Is it true the club is up for sale by DW if so and he appoints a new manager what happens if the new owners don`t fancy the new man only thinking aloud , Pulis for me but why he would come i don`t know .
13 November 2014 at 11:45 pm #135470I’ll be honest. None of the names knocking around fill me with any confidence.
13 November 2014 at 11:54 pm #135472Said this on a previous thread. I would approach Pulis, when he turns us down as I’d expect, I would then go for Malky, however if its not seen to be politically correct I’d get Ron Atkinson in ;)
13 November 2014 at 11:55 pm #135473Is it true the club is up for sale by DW …I don’t mean to be rude, but how on Earth would any of us know that, even if it were true?
14 November 2014 at 12:42 am #135479whelan been on granada reports and says he has no one lined up, then again yesterday he said rosler was still the man for the job. Never liked pulis when he was at stoke but think he would do a good job, but do we want to play the “stoke way”.
If it’s better than the Rosler way and the Coyle way – then I’ll give it a go
Yes – but for how long?
14 November 2014 at 1:39 am #135481Malky mackay for me at cardiff they won the championship at a canter if he had stayed manger at Cardiff they would not have gone down
14 November 2014 at 1:49 am #135482Chris Hughton
14 November 2014 at 2:03 am #135483Malky is 1-7on with sky bet

Do you really want to be held responsible for an event that would make Masada look like an “and finally” news story?
There are others (elsewhere of course) who are threatening to take their wives and children and flee this hate filled town of ours. Fans writing to the club with threats of boycotting games because their 30 odd years support should mean they have to be listened to when it comes to club business.
Then there is the club stalwart who’s self righteous, holier than thou, never sinned comments about sexist remarks by Makay insult all that he holds dear yet had an avatar of a girl with her t1ts out.
There is self flagellation going on in some quarters tonight but I would ask each and everyone of those hand wringing, teeth sucking, Guardian reading politically correct (when it suits) objectors to look Mr Whelan in the eye and say: I object because I have NEVER EVER made ANY remark in my life that could have been considered either sexist, homophobic or racist. Nor have I EVER laughed at ANY comment or joke about the same – then and only then would their opinion about how he runs his business could be heard – then disregarded as it has nothing at all to do with them.
There has always been talk about fickle Wigan fans, well I put to all, there is also another breed.
Oh! I would have no objection to his appointment, and if it meant that only true supporters came to the DW then so be it.
14 November 2014 at 10:36 am #135487I’d live to see Pulis in charge but I have the feeling that these days, after winning premier league manager of the year last season, he will think that taking in the job of a bottom 3 championship club is somewhat below him.
If you don’t ask you don’t get I guess but, in footballing terms alone, I’d be happy with MacKay too.
There’s no-one else who stands out to me
14 November 2014 at 10:54 am #135489Someone who will come in and deal with the sh/t stirrers and the mercenaries will do for me and one that will pull us out of this mess.
I feel sorry for Rosler he has been let down by the players this season and the sacking seems very harsh in the cold light of day especially given his fantastic start.
6 months is a very long time to be jobless in football management and a year probably means you are finished so I would nt rule out Pulis and to be honest he would be my choice given the mess the club is in at the moment.14 November 2014 at 1:06 pm #135497Jewell, Hutchings, Bruce & Martinez. There was not too much recruitment involved in these and yes, Hutchings was a failure.
Coyle & Rosler were managers we went out to get.Either we have somebody with a connection to Whelan or the club lined up or the decision makers will need to have learnt the lessons when trying to recruit from the market.
Really? Didn’t we have to pay Swansea compensation?
You rarely sack a manager without having someone, or a few, sounded out.
The recruitment of the manager was easy. Martinez was Whelan’s No1 choice and he quickly knew that Martinez wanted to come. As Martinez said at the time “Wigan was the only club he would leave Swansea for”
The compensation was for the two clubs to negotiate, but the end result was inevitable once Martinez told Swansea he wanted to leave.14 November 2014 at 1:52 pm #135498Jewell, Hutchings, Bruce & Martinez. There was not too much recruitment involved in these and yes, Hutchings was a failure.

Fair call really, however, I suppose it would also depend on what is going through his mind at the moment.
Pulis could take on the job with two objectives in mind: first of all he could stick two fingers up to the institution that put him in this position in the first place and secondly he could see this as an opportunity of winning Championship Manager of the Year (a feat never before achieved). Promotion and a follow on successful season in the Premiership would see his stock so high he could then realise an even better team to manage rather than the struggling Premiership teams who find themselves in need of a change now.
Or, as you say, in footballing terms I too would take MacKay.
