Southampton also get crowds twice our size and have a far bigger income. The reason why we have no debt and break even is because of Dave Whelan. If we did what you’re suggesting we may still be in the Premier League but it’d be built on a house of cards like Portsmouth.

So whats the next excuse
Well if in 20 years, 3 promotions, 1 relegation, 2 major cup finals, European football and 8 years in the top flight of English football is a façade for being interested in our small club, then I’ll take that for the next 50 years.

On your attendance point we paid on average less than 15 quid a game in Prem and averaged less than 20000. Southampton average over 30000 and pay over 30 quid. Last home game of 2005/6 we played Portsmouth whose fans had a banner saying “minus 10-its cold in Southampton!” Contrasting positions of those clubs now eh? According to the Jonathan Jackson propaganda machine we are again in profit. Who says Southampton pay the same for tickets?? I’m willing to bet their season tickets and match tickets cost more. They also sell more. Having more fans also means more revenue from programme sales, beer and food sales, merchandise sales. It all adds up. They have a far bigger income than us. Who’s to say they aren’t in massive debt too? We certainly aren’t.
Has the original poster got any idea how much the Liebherr’ family are worth in comparison to Dave Whelan & thus how much they can put into Southampton or how much they can put up as security so banks will allow overdrafts/loans etc??
