Listen, we were well out of our depth in the Prem and Whelan knew that. The very fact that we lasted 8 seasons, won the FA Cup and played in the final of the League Cup is an enigma in itself! During the relegation battle that ultimately ended up with us relinquishing our grip on top flight football I wrote on here that the ‘Double Drop’ wasn’t out of the question, I was lambasted for suggesting the possibility of such a thing! People have to realise that the glory days are over for now, quite possibly forever!
