Just to add to the last part of my last post – who on this team could you possibly see staying with the club as we move up? Where is this team’s Jimmy Bullard or Troy Deeney? You can say the quality of the players isn’t good enough, but that too falls on the manager/shows either a lack of talent evaluation or development, or both.

Why let Jordi Gomez go ?
Okay, not everybody’s favourite player but he could pick a pass, better than anyone in our squad; not to mention his dead ball ability and hid deftness at wining free kicks in the first instance. Are the players that WJ brought in, better than Jordi !

Seemed to remember Kellet having a cracking game on the wing, a few months ago. So where is he now ! Might as well make the pitch narrower, because we don’t use the wings anymore.

Not one for slagging offmy team, players, manager, but yesterday came off totaly dejected and pissed off. This is our club, players and managers come and go but we will still be here and we want to see a latics team fighting for the shirt and giving it a good go. Yesterdays performance was shocking, is it the players who are not up to it? idon’t know, or is it the manager? bit of both i suspect. Would we benifit from changing the manager at this stage? Who would we get to take over who could turn it around with not many games left? I’ve voted go, we need to start rebuilding for next season asap, there are still games left to survive and i’ve not seen any tean to be frightened of, we’ve not been thumped this season so if we are going to go lets go down fighting, nothing to loose now.

When we do employ a winger it seems that it is the centre forwards job to play as a left winger under this idiot.

I voted to keep him (for now). I remember what happened last time we sacked two managers in the same season, and arguably that time we had a squad that should have been nowhere near the bottom 3.

This time we have a squad that was largely assembled when we were 3rd tier. Sure, we’ve added to it, but we have added players that other 2nd & 3rd division clubs didn’t really want. We signed Bogle, who was playing non-league football last season. In essence, we have a shit squad, and in all reality, we are going down with or without Joyce.

My prime reason for not sacking him now is financial. Assuming we are going down, and assuming that he will be taking a relegation pay cut like the rest of the squad, then I think he should be given until Nov/Dec of next season to show that with 12 months and two transfer windows under his belt, he can bring us back up and keep us up. If come November we are not around the top 6, then he gets the bullet, but it would be 2.5 years of lower wages as compo rather than 3 years of his current salary.

As the poster above quite rightly says, just because some supporters don’t agree with everything you say doesn’t make them a bellend – a very Orwell-esque point of view!

“I voted to keep him (for now)”. I didnt see that option on the poll.

“In essence, we have a shit squad, and in all reality, we are going down with or without Joyce”.

The squad we have is more than capable of staying in this league, the poster above summed it up….If Joyce was to go today it would lift the gloom from the players and fans, and with nine games to go we would still have a fighting chance of staying up![/quote]

Come on lad our squad is either good enough to stay in this league or it isn’t talk about contradicting yourself.

          What a journey!

Just because of who his dad is we should now look to Warnock to become more of a leader on the pitch he must pick his dads brains and like him or not Colin Wanker is one of the best in the business at this level. A word in the ear and Warnock the younger may just make a difference .

You don’t think Stephen Warnock is Neil Warnock’s son, do you? :D

Go. At this point, we have to assume we are going down, So the question becomes, is Joyce the right man to bring us back up? I just don’t think I’ve seen any evidence of that. In order for me to vote to keep Joyce, I’d have to be of the opinion that: 1) Our league position is more due to a lack of talent than management, and 2) Joyce’s predecessor/ownership is more to blame for that lack of talent than he is – essentially, that you have confidence in Joyce making transfer decisions this summer. Do we really want him at the helm for the decisions this summer, or are we better admitting the mistake and moving on – giving a new manager some competitive matches to judge what he has before the next transfer window? As much as the frequent turnover of managers (and players) does concern me, Joyce’s record & the team’s offensive performance has been so dismal, that I don’t think he can just turn it around/get the players confidence just by moving to League 1.

I will say this – part of our problem has been the whole sale roster changes. Maybe I’m mistaken; but, other teams who have been successful moving up (or after moving down) haven’t turned their roster over to the degree that we have. If you’re moving up a level, that should indicate that a certain number of the players who helped you do that are ready for the next level. I think the roster turnover is an indictment of our scouting and player evaluation over the past 4 years.

Think you’re bang on lobt. Mr Sharpe is also behind that problem, he seems to love the attention deadline transfer day brings. No way did we need so many transfers in the summer or January. It brings about instability… if you want to build a future you’ve got to be methodical and strengthen only where you really need it.

We don’t have a shit squad, it’s pretty good actually. They’re just poorly managed at the mo.

I would love to see us take Villa apart next Saturday, to see us playing fast flowing attacking football and to see WJ standing there with a sly smile on his face and a look that says “told you I knew what I was doing” and we all get behind the quite man and slap each other on the back knowing everything as slotted into place and next season promotion is all but guaranteed .

That’s what I would like to happen, because like a lot of Latics fans, would love nothing more than to see a nice fella come good and prove us wrong, but it isn’t going to happen. I have seen nothing to suggest there is any hope for the future under this man. If he does not go then I suspect a lot of fans will go and that is something we cant afford to let happen.

He can go for me because it is not going to work and we can all see that.
