Bobby Zamora won’t be offered a new contract at QPR apparently. I’d get him signed before Cardiff sign all the available strikers and we’re left with Holt.
Wonder if we can sell Cardiff Grant Holt??[/quote]
Now that’s what you call proper Lancashire grammar! :)
3 June 2014 at 3:02 pm #131637Wigan have announced the signing of Andrew Taylor from Cardiff City.
Former England Under 21 defender is first new arrival at Latics this Summer.
He’s a leader, someone who can take responsibility on the field.”
Uwe RoslerWigan Athletic are delighted to announce that Andrew Taylor has moved to the DW Stadium from Cardiff City.
The 27-year-old left-back has passed a medical at the DW Stadium and put pen to paper on a three year deal until the summer of 2017.
Taylor was a mainstay of the Bluebirds team that won promotion to the Premier League and kept his place in the side in the initial games of last season, until the departure of manager Malky Mackay.
He made over 100 appearances in all competitions for City since joining in 2011 from Middlesbrough, where he had progressed through the youth ranks to play over 150 first-team games – including the Premier League and Europa League.
An FA Youth Cup winner at Boro, Taylor featured alongside current Premier League stars Adam Johnson, Chris Brunt and James Morrison at the Riverside.
On Taylor’s arrival, Latics boss Uwe Rosler said:
“I’m very, very happy to get a player of Andrew’s stature and experience to our football club.
“He was the captain of Malky Mackay’s promotion-winning team, he is a very experienced and reliable player who is at the best stage of his career and I’m looking forward to working with him.
“He has all the qualities in his position that we are looking for; physically, technically he’s very good and tactically he has developed as a player well.
“He’s willing to go forward, participating in our play offensively and he’s another cornerstone in our team for next season.
“The quality he’s shown as a player for Middlesbrough and Cardiff is good but in particularly at Cardiff where he was captain of their promotion-winning team; I think that will do us very well as a team in next season’s campaign, especially when we’re bringing in younger players who need experienced players on the side to develop in the best way.
And Taylor echoed his new manager’s sentiments, stating his desire to take Latics back to the top-flight.
“Wigan Athletic are a big club, with Premier League experience and big aspirations,” he added.
“The manager seems really good and I think his record when he came to the club last season speaks volumes.
“It’s a fresh challenge for me and one I’m very excited about; I had three good years at Cardiff but everything has to come to an end and I’m looking forward to getting started at the DW Stadium.”

im hoping its just sour grapes but not holding my breath :woohoo:Basically you can read what you like (I don’t mean you personally, Bicky, I mean “one can read…”) into those sort of comments.
There will always be those who say “worst player ever”, and there will be those who say “good player – we’ll miss him”. Not just sour grapes either – people will have those widely differing views.
Imagine anyone coming on here trying to find out if Gomez is a good buy for Sunderland.
Besides which players are judged by the role they are asked to play – look at Gomez under Coyle and Rosler. A very different player. I’m happy we’re bringing new blood in – let’s wait and see how he performs.

Those comments from the Cardiff fans are pretty much like the ones on all the various latics boards when the likes of Jason Scotland, Steven Caldwell, Henry Thomas and quite a few others left us.
No sour grapes, they just think he’s crap.
3 June 2014 at 9:25 pm #131643I’m surprised by the comments made by the Cardiff supporter who says “that came out the blue”. Did he not read my post 5 days ago? B)
Bring on James Tavernier. :cheer:

It looks like what Rosler said(above) was in his thinking behind the signing of both Taylor, and Taylor Sinclair.
Makes you wonder where, or if Garcia fits in his plans.

4 June 2014 at 7:12 pm #131649I copied this lot off Partick Thistles facebook page, it seems the fans opinion of this lad is totally opposite of what the Cardiff fans posted about Andrew Taylor.
Ian Mackinnon Great servant to the club who deserves his move. Glad he didn’t go to another Scottish team
Ross MacArthur He will be back once he realises he will be starting alongside Gary caldwell!
Tom Hogg That goal at Rugby Park…
Grant Bell Best wishes. Always gave 100% to the cause. Delighted he’s moving to a higher standard.
Steve Tomlinson Leaving the right way. Good luck to ATS down south.
Paul Maher All the best !! Sorry to see him go!
Barry Mclelland All the best Aaron. A fantastic young player.
Raymond Stark Been a pleasure watching him develop into a top player.
Gareth Shields Going to be difficult, very difficult to replace.
Paul Finlay All the best ATS
Paul Black Good luck ATS.. a great servant to the club just a shame we never got a fee for helping you develop as a player. Look forward to seeing you on The Football League show
Len Hoover Thanks for everything, Aaron! When you become a huge international success, tell everyone how big a part Thistle played! (and if God forbid the opposite happens, say it was Montrose’s fault).
Scotty Magoo Good luck to him, glad he won’t be playing against us and hopefully see him in a Scotland jersey one day.
Jim Clarke Great player, great guy, great servant.
Austin Purdie All the best big man!
Ronnie Farlow Best attacking left back we’ve had since….well since The days of Archie flying down the left wing!!
CJ O’Hara All the best, Aaron. Hope you do great at Wigan because you were great for us!
Sheila Elliott Good luck son you’ll do great take care xx
Stephen Frew Is it wrong to hope it doesn’t work out perfectly and he has to come to back to Thistle with a second preference of he’s dynamite and ends up with an international career and a crack at the EPL?
Callum John/William Stewart Fair play mate. Well done
Ross Thomson Great move for a player who was playing for Montrose only 3 years ago.

Another fan of our GREAT LEADER !
4 June 2014 at 8:58 pm #131651Sky Sports sources understand Norwich City are the latest club to show an interest in Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban. Cardiff City have already met Grabban’s release clause, and Middlesbrough have held talks, while fellow Championship clubs Nottingham Forest, Derby, Fulham and Wigan are also thought to be monitoring the situation.
4 June 2014 at 9:56 pm #131652I think “monitoring the situation” means DW said :- “WHAT !?,A FEE ???”
4 June 2014 at 10:52 pm #131653Just been on another Partick Thistle fans forum, what a different view these men have to the bitter Cardiff fans, who slagged off the captain of their promotion winning team, when he signed for us the other day.
http://www.wearethistle.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/9788-great-move-for-sinky/
Taylor left back and Taylor-Sinclair left wing back I’m sure somebody can come up with a good little ditty for these two.
