21 August 2016 at 9:07 pm #150143Mutty your team’s got 100% record played 2 lost 2 championship form see you next seasonAnd to think he used to be a Latics fan, he turned his back on us to support two shite clubs.
You gotta laugh!
Fuck the EFL
21 August 2016 at 9:20 pm #150145Booed off by their own fans at full time as well…. That’s started sooner than I guessed it would. Fickle them Mackems :)
22 August 2016 at 1:08 am #150152Got to feel a bit of sympathy for the Sunderland fans.
I remember our great escape when Bob changed things round and played for wins. Fantastic stuff.
The last match v Wolves was a fantastic atmosphere as if we had won something.
Normal service resumed next season as we were all feeling the pickle we were in the previous season wouldn’t re-occur. It did re-occur big time and we went down.
Got a good few Makem friends and hope for them they can muster a come back a bit sooner this season.
They are all ready shatting it and so pissed off that the momentum couldn’t be carried over. Maybe they could win the cup. That takes the sting out of relegation.22 August 2016 at 2:09 pm #150160Mutty your team’s got 100% record played 2 lost 2 championship form see you next seasonSomebody said that to me last season only for us to send Newcastle down to see you instead. The season before they said that they’d wave to me as they replaced us in the Premier League, only to end up in the 3rd division, whilst Sunderland stayed in the Premier League! At least your cockiness has gone, and now you are openly admitting the best you can hope for this year is to survive.
Its not been an ideal pre-season for Sunderland, losing the manager to the top job in English football, and that has severely hampered the recruitment of players, as a month was spent by the FA generally dick-dancing us around. Like every season, we are playing catch-up, but seeing as both Palace & Bournemouth (neither of whom have had a pre-season as disruptive as Sunderland) are below us at present, then I’m not going to get stressed about it.
22 August 2016 at 2:48 pm #150161Therein lies the problem of all these fancy Continental formations and tactics, Yann is a winger so to me if you are using out and out wide men then you need more than one target to hit so the lone striker makes it hard for him to deliver. If your gonna pack the midfield hoping for them to get on the end of balls from wide areas then use wing backs instead. The golden rule in any formation is to keep your shape which is much harder to do if you lose your striker or get a man sent off in these modern formations. This is when 4 4 2 wins out because it is a hell of a lot easier to adapt should anything go awry lose a player just sacrifice one striker enabling the team to still keep its shape where it matters most. Lose a man in these modern times and you end up with guys out of position or playing duel roles within a game. It is hard to call for the modern manager as to how he sets up coz teams do play so many different ways. In the late 70s and early 80s foreign teams couldn’t get the then European Cup off English clubs all playing with pacey wingers like Yann but they all had great twin target men as well, if only we could get back to those heady days.

In reply to mutty, I don’t blame you for not being concerned as I reckon Hull, Watford and one from Burnley and Bournemouth will fill the relegation places.

23 August 2016 at 1:12 am #150170Sunderland will be fine this season. Burnley Norwich and Hull/Bournemouth for me.
23 August 2016 at 1:22 am #150171Wigan and Salford for me.

You’re doomed then ;) Christ knows why I put Norwich.
I’ll try again. Burnley, Palace and Hull/Bournemouth.
23 August 2016 at 3:48 pm #150179Don’t be surprised if Swansea, Bournemouth, Palace, Hull Burnley and Watford are the bottom six. If I had to choose I would have Hull bottom Burnley second bottom and Watford third relegation spot.
23 August 2016 at 4:31 pm #150180So long as the fickle Mackems go down i’m not arsed who else.
Nice new avatar Eggy? Like it!
