27 April 2017 at 4:34 pm #158447They could survive if they win all their remaining games despite showing no evidence of doing so and all the others get beat. Oh hang on, where have I heard shite talk like that before?

27 April 2017 at 5:00 pm #158448Sunderland should go straight back up. Newcastle are not a good side but have a clinical frontline which has taken them up. All you guys who have seen most games this season, can you honestly say that it has been a good league. The games I’ve seen hasn’t convinced me that all but one team is better than us. We should never have been relegated and will be only coz its self afflicted. Cant see how the Mackems will fail next term

You think? I’m a realist mate not a fucking idiot with rose tinted glasses on! There is nothing more than I would like than for you to rub this in my face after the Leeds game but it’s not gonna happen, let it go! And the avatar is of psilocybin mushrooms which have been proven to help depression and the like, they are also a good laugh so yeah it is a barrel of laughs here :) Nice tie by the way! ;)
27 April 2017 at 6:09 pm #158451I think the squad is strong enough to compete and the parachute payment should make us competitive. That said, some of this squad have literally downed tools this season and are a disgrace to their profession, and the sooner they leave, the better. The likes of Kone, Rodwell & Borini should leave ASAP, Defoe will leave with our thanks. Pickford will probably be sold, but for big money, as he’ll be an England No1 soon.Unlike many, I’m happy for Moyes to continue as manager, as there is a serious rebuilding job to be done, and repeatedly changing manager wont work. We’ve been the turd that could not be flushed for 3-4 seasons now, and the mismanagement at owner/CEO level makes DW/DS/JJ look almost saintly in comparison!
Relegation has been on the cards since pre-season after the FA/Allardyce dalliance ruined pre-season, and was pretty much confirmed at the end of August when Kone went on strike and we sold Kaboul for peanuts. The squad was a mish-mash of merceneries, kids, OAPs and a car-crash pre-season failed to make them a cohesive unit.
The atmosphere at away games is pretty toxic. To have almost 3,000 singing “we’re fucking shit” for 90 minutes is something I’ve not experienced before – mind you, it means it shuts the home support up because there’s nowt they can sing at us that we don’t already know!
I hope the big R is confirmed on Saturday as this lot deserve to go down in front of 40,000+ boos, rather than away or even on a non-playing day. It would be even more appropriate that the smallest club in PL history, and one that was in the 4th tier not long ago, are the ones who relegate us.
As for next season, I’m looking forward to actually going to games with the expectation of winning more than we lose!
Thanks for the honest s, it seems that your interest in Wigan Athletic is more to do with how very similar our two clubs are more than anything else. Your response couldn’t have been too different if you were a Latics fan being asked the same question.
Good luck next season and good to see you back on here in sensible mode.

Have you placed money on us to go down like you did last time?*
*apologies if that wasn’t you
27 April 2017 at 7:34 pm #158453Does mutty mean Bournemouth? He must be referring to the smallest club in premier league history since we were in there.
But never mind, Sunderland will walk this league next season on my observations this season as it has been a piss poor standard indeed. Reading probably looked the best we have played at home but we gifted that one.27 April 2017 at 11:06 pm #158457They could survive if they win all their remaining games despite showing no evidence of doing so and all the others get beat. No I haven’t but I did as soon as Malky Mackay was appointed our manager because I had the foresight to see what it would do to the club and decided to make some money out of the unfortunate situation that Dave Whelan had put us in! ;)
27 April 2017 at 11:17 pm #158458Sunderland should go straight back up. Newcastle are not a good side but have a clinical frontline which has taken them up.Newcastle bought players that are too good for the championship, but not good enough to be anything other than premier league squad men. The likes of Dwyght Gayle, Matt Richie and Daryl Murphy have all had ample chances in the top flight, and not made it. They were fortunate enough to have been able to sell Wjinaldum & Sissoko for magabucks. All this media love-in with Rafa and Newcastle is glossing over the fact that they start as a newly promoted side with a lack of proven quality, and as such they will have to spend serious money if they want to stay up. If this HMRC raid results in convictions, then potentially they could have even less money to spend once any fines are issued.
The Championship doesn’t scare me, and it doesn’t appear that there is much between top 6 and bottom 6. As some of you have said, Wigan are 23rd, but haven’t been thumped by a single team. The key seems to be organisation. If Moyes is allowed to rid us of the cancer that is Kone, Borini etc, bring in a couple of proven Championship players and set us up to be hard to beat, then we should piss the league like we did under Keane in 2006/7.
27 April 2017 at 11:17 pm #158459REALLY? CANT EVEN BACK US LOSE ME PAL
27 April 2017 at 11:24 pm #158461REALLY? CANT EVEN BACK US LOSE ME PALThere is no room for sentiment where money is concerned, ask any footballer that! ;)
30 April 2017 at 1:13 pm #158528Not before time blunderland get what has been on the cards for five seasons.
30 April 2017 at 6:10 pm #158541They took over the mantle from us in 2013 when we finally succumbed to the big R after several seasons of last-gasp survivals. I cant see them following our downward spiral through another division though.
30 April 2017 at 6:29 pm #158546This seasons championship has been piss poor or we would have been relegated weeks ago. We have had a nightmare season and still been in contention in most games and next to last game finally saw us go. Whoever joins the Mackems in it next season will feel confident of going straight back up. Testament yet again to the unreal season we have had
