What did you think of the rumour doing the rounds in 2020 that DW was the 3rd member of the local consortium that Ian Lenagan was trying to bring in for sporting Wigan (the other one being Danson), but he declined to be part of it.
Dave Whelan is 86 and not in the best of health. He also didn’t wany his family carrying the burden of running a football club. He’s done more than enough.

I think it was just a rumour doing the rounds since Whelan is on record as saying he did not want to burden his family with owing a football club.

Absolute crock that, Dave Whelan’s health has been in a slow declined for a good few years. I spoke a few words to him about 18 month ago at an event and there was a vacant look on his face.
