Well those strikers will be staying were they are anyway, they’ve finally spoken.

Sharpe talked the talk on them but they were never coming back. That’s what I can’t stand about these folk when they say one thing, completely untrue and try to pull the wool over the fans eyes. Like a crap used car salesman from the 70’s.

What the fek are you on about?, they both have current contracts with Wigan and unless someone comes in with a reasonable bid for um, will return for pre-season training just as Sharpey says.
We have all read about how they both want to stay with their loan clubs, but by the same token, I wouldn’t mind spending a few years were I am typing this from, but unfortunately I will have to report back to work on Monday. :(

        From Matlock to ManU

They won’t be back, they never were coming back and you aren’t a professional footballer with the option to do what they can under contract

Wigan Athletic are set to make another bid for Chesterfield winger Sam Clucas, according to FLW sources.
Wigan are set to make another bid for Chesterfield’s Sam Clucas
League One rivals Scunthorpe United are also interested and could rival Wigan’s offer for the winger.

The 23-year-old had a fantastic season for Chesterfield in League One following their promotion from League Two, and his performances helped push Chesterfield into the play-offs, where they were beaten by Preston North End over the two-legs of the semi-final.

He has arisen as a target for a number of Championship sides, including Cardiff City, Reading and Leeds United, while Wigan had already registered their interest in the former Leicester City man.

The Latics had a supposed £500,000 bid turned down by the Spireites last month.

Scunthorpe manager Mark Robins has been quick to add to his squad this summer as Scott Wiseman, Scott Laird, Jack King, Stephen Dawson, Isaac Assenso and Charlie Goode have all joined the Iron so far.

Wigan are looking for established League One talent as they look to dust themselves off and go again after a shock relegation from the Championship last season. Their only signing of the summer so far is goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell from Walsall.

Football rumour: Nottingham Forest winger wanted by Wigan
                            By Derbysport | Posted: August 14, 2015

NOTTINGHAM Forest winger Jamie Paterson may be on his way to Wigan Athletic on loan.

The 23-year-old who went to the City Ground from Walsall in 2013 spent most of last season on the substitutes’ bench and made a rare start for the Reds in their Capital One Cup defeat to Walsall in midweek.

Burnley have previously said to be interested in the player and now League One Wigan are rumoured to want Paterson on loan.

Forest’s signing of winger Jamie Ward after the Northern Ireland international left Derby County has pushed Paterson even further down the pecking order

Amd a bit peed off about it

New Preston keeper Chris Kirkland has accused Wigan of moving the goalposts on a proposed deal to bring him back to the DW Stadium last week. The one-time England international, 34, looked destined to rejoin Latics, who he spent six years with between 2006 and 2012. However, as the deal neared a conclusion, Kirkland revealed his former club attempted to tweak the terms, prompting him to walk away and agree a one-year contract with North End on Wednesday. “I went to Wigan – I’d been there before so I know the structure,” Kirkland said. “But that deal collapsed on the day I was meant to sign. “It was a done deal. At the last minute they tried to change the deal as I was about to sign. It got a little bit messy. “In the end I shook their hand and walked away. It’s football, it happens. I’m old enough to understand it now. If I was a bit younger it would be hard to take but it’s just what goes on in football. “I was in on my own at Wigan sorting that one out. My agent was away. I’d been there six years…that’s gone now, hopefully they’ll regret it; it’s all about Preston now and helping this club. I couldn’t be more happy.”

Development Squad forward Cosgrove joins Barrow on loan.

Wigan Athletic can confirm that Development Squad forward Sam Cosgrove has joined Vanarama National League side Barrow on a month long loan until 19 September 2015.

The 18-year-old signed his first professional contract with Latics this summer, having been with the club from Under 16 level.

Cosgrove scored 22 goals for the Under 18s last season and was an unused substitute for the first team on five occasions in 2014-15.

Reading, Wigan and Sheffield United are among of clutch of clubs chasing in-demand Wycombe Wanderers defender Aaron Pierre.

The pacey left footed centre-back, 22, was a key player helping Wycombe to last season’s League Two play-off final.

And the Chairboys have started this season well despite suffering Wembley heartbreak on penalties to Southend.

Pierre has responded by already scoring twice this term and helping Gareth Ainsworth’s second-placed side keep two clean sheets.

Ainsworth won’t want to lose his star centre-half given Anthony Stewart has been ruled out until Christmas after picking up an injury in the Capital One Cup clash against Fulham earlier this month.
