I’ve no doubt we can still stay up but unfortunately we just cannot score enough goals. We have zero creativity in the middle. Jacob’s,Evens,Massey,Lowe have had enough opportunities to supply the lone striker or no striker if you include most the Christmas games. Whatever his issues Windass was a big loss at a critical time,so was Mulgrew who brought experience and leadership (another strange move). Why Windass was allowed to leave we’ll probably find out in the future (Windass’s social media probably). Next point is what has Garner done to deserve constant omission ? Moore is getting poor service but as much as I like him he just doesn’t take any of his few chances at the moment. Garner on as sub against Derby..nets, on again Sheff Wed assist for winner and played really well at Swansea. He looks more likely to take a half chance than the rest and we’re not blessed in the striker dept. So why not start him with Moore, and Geldhardt behind? Times running out and another 2 home games yield 1 measly point so why is Cook so stubborn on trying them together from the start even though he has on a couple occasions? ….Apart from him there’s hardly a goal to be had in that side ,so why is he permanently benched????

That Charlton result is an absolute killer, but we should have won last night.

Only as much as the win at Leeds was a killer to them.
I don’t doubt that
The difference is we’re playing catch-up.

I firmly believe we should be mid table now. We have won games DESPITE the manager and have certainly lost games BECAUSE of the manager. No matter the outcome of our season we should start next season with a new one.

So if we stay up will that be down to Cook or despite Cook?
Despite him

Saying we were supposed to be pushing on from last season so staying up by the skin of our teeth could only be seen as a below expectations season. Add to that we had a reasonable budget to push us on and no major injury crisis like last season. Cook has put us in this position so scraping survival must be despite Cook if he was supposed to be pushing us on.

Yep ref lost us it Sat, what a comical pmsl remark that’s is.
It had nothing to do with:
Starting with 5 at the back,
3 defensive/holding midfielders,
Bringing Moore off leaving Lowe on,
Yep refs fault that. If Cook spent as much time in trying to rectify the sh1te he created as he did arguing with the 4th official we “might” have nicked a point.
But, that’s what sh1t clueless managers do and fans wearing Elton John rose tinted specs,

point the finger elsewhere like a naughty child “Its not me its him !!!!”

Rightly or wrongly we started 5 at the back and they still had acres of space in and around our box and Pearson had all the time in the world. I dread to think what that would have looked like with 1 less defender and an extra attacker.

We had plenty of attacking positions but did nothing with them until Joffy and Jacobs came on. Whether that was because they changed the game or because they were 2 up and realised we wouldn’t get 2 if we played all day.

Playing 5 at the back, playing the useless Lowe and any other team selection complaint is not why we failed to string 2 passes together for an hour nor is it why they scored the goals they did. As Mutty says the 2nd goal was poor tracking back from Lowe but they still waltzed through FIVE defenders. Not sure how the blame for that can be thrown at Cooks door but then again with some he gets the blame for storm ciara.

He has plenty of faults though no doubt about that
I guess we are pretty poor at both ends of the field and fairly stagnant in the middle. Definitely poor in the coaching and management but we will have to live with them I’m afraid untill their pay-off bounty has been chipped down a little more.

Simply put Donny, we have too many players that at this level are not good enough. You’re a big fan of wingers, but the 3 we have are all pretty poor. Masseys form last season was quite clearly a one off, Jacobs offers little to nothing at this level and the less said about Lowe the better.

Defensively, both Dunks and Kipre are like reincarnations of Titus Bramble but with less quality and more errors.

Thing is egg we have poor wingers because they are coached not to be out and out wingers. Since the wing back phenomen was introduced the old
fashioned all out attack winger has become a rarity.

I get what you are saying in that the out and out winger is a position rarely used nowadays, but as a pro footballer you should be able to cross a ball. The 3 we have can’t.

The amount of players on 20k plus who can’t play a simple pass 5 yards to a bloke in the same colour shirt is ridiculous

Amen brother, how ridiculous is it that the modern player earning millions cannot work out how to put a dangerous ball into the box. As an ex park player who was an out and out winger my instruction was simple get the ball in high and far enough from the keeper but not too much pace as to beat everyone in the area. Those days are long gone and once more I will repeat my view. I hate wing backs especially at our level when your expecting journeymen players to be Stuart Pearce one minute and John Barnes the next. It is unfair and un workable for a team with our structure.

After my comment on another thread yesterday, I’d have to say I thought Kipre had an excellent game yesterday. Both goals were wind assisted flukes and even Dunkley was ok until his naive sending off.
And am I seeing hallucinations, or is Kipre starting to spray some passing around the pitch?

He was excellent yes. Reading that back it sounds a bit harsh because I am a Kipre fan, but his mistakes (as with Dunkleys) aren’t the standard mistakes players make they are usually absolute howlers.

On another note, I thought Marshall would be a great signing but I’m really not so sure.

I’m not a fan of either Marshall or Jamie Jones.

Maybe Kal Naismith will have a go in between the sticks before the season is out!

They both have their flaws yes.

Owen Evans for number 1 if we go down?

I’ve never actually seen him in action but I’d like to see a number of the young uns getting a chance.
