John Filan and the pigeon episode.23 March 2017 at 12:32 am #157184Given as it’s sort of topical, being at Springfield Park watching us win a night game (can’t remember who it was against) whilst England played West Germany at Wembley and beat em 2-0
Half the blokes at Latics watching the game with radios pressed to their ears…..then rushing off after the game (9.15 finishes then) to get back home for the highlights on Sportsnight12th March 1975 ….jeez
23 March 2017 at 1:17 am #157186Always remember Gerald Sindstat ( can’t remember the name of the footy programme on ITV – think it was on a Friday night ) doing a review of Johnny Rogers: quote – “he’s an electrician by day and a livewire on the field”

23 March 2017 at 3:36 pm #157194One that stands out for me is always Preston at home in 2004 – won 5-0. When the stadium was back to front and the away fans somehow got the whole of the east stand and the north stand was filled with chair bangers… Preston fans celebrated our 4th and 5th goals that day, they were that bad/we were that good.
Another one that will long live in the memory is Leon Barnett falling over the advertising boards at Bury last season! Hilarious.
23 March 2017 at 11:57 pm #157212The bloke on the pop side shouting” out of his area linesmam” at every home game when the away keeper kicked the ball out of his hands. Was it one of you lot?
24 March 2017 at 1:26 am #157214Can anyone remember a NPL select 11 playing a Man City 11 at Springy? More bricks thrown that night than a Saturday night in 80s Belfast.
24 March 2017 at 2:00 am #157215Can anyone remember a NPL select 11 playing a Man City 11 at Springy? More bricks thrown that night than a Saturday night in 80s Belfast.I vaguely remember that one.
I still have the programme somewhere from when we played Metallist Kharkiv.
I think we played the China National team and the Zambian National team around that time too.
We also played a few of the Moscow sides.3 April 2017 at 10:54 pm #157494I remember when I hated the end of the football season.
I can’t wait for it to be over this year and fortunately there is no international tournament for England to prolong the agony.4 April 2017 at 12:42 am #157495It is over but just watch our side with no striker win at Ipswich.
