What a journey!Can anyone tell me what has happened to Cockney Latic message board, nobody posts on it any more, I have read it for years and had many a laugh at the outrageous arguments and banter that was always on here – where have all the main contributors gone are they posting on other sites now.I used to log on take a look at the previous day/nights entertainment during my lunch hour and colleagues used to ask what I was pissing myself laughing at, I’m lucky if I bother once a month now.

To be fair, you’re probably one of the main ones that Haker is talking about.
And to be fair that is being very fair ;) :P
Nobody is going to be liked by everybody and people will annoy other people with differing views e.t.c but the blatant wind up merchants are just pointless. In the last 5 years or so i have seen this board gradually turning into one infiltrated by kids. Well i was when i first started posting, That was about 9 years ago, But i was mature about what i was saying. Just getting my views across like i do now.

There are certain posters on here – and we all know who we are – who are capable of having an argument/debate that sometimes descends into a bit of heated banter, and that’s fine. It can’t be any coincidence, however, that most of the obviously intelligent posters all seem to share similar views.
There are also, of course, some totally pointless posters who deserve all the abuse they get, even though they should probably simply be ignored – and I know I am a major culprit by not ignoring them.
As someone else said earlier, the class of wind-up merchant has also dropped dramatically. Even Arky has resorted to multi-posting under his own name as a fishing bore ;)
But that said Haker (or Maker, Faker, whatever your name is, I can’t be bothered to look back up the thread?) feel free to come back at any time and drag the quality back up to Beano standard or better.
Since its inception CL has been online during the clubs meteoric rise thru the leagues barring the last few seasons.We have always had the feel good factor and generally sang from the same hymn sheet.Its only now we are going thru turbulant waters we see bickering and slanging matches.True some of the legendary posters have long gone but it is still the best Latics site by a mile.Those who were around on here during the stroll to the div 2 title will tell you it was one big love in that season.Im hoping the good times return for the club then we can all be buddies again ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Just to inadvertently reinforce your comment by disputing it….
That’s not the point Lowton. Differing views give rise to banter, arguments, and quite often, some amusing comments thrown back and forth.
It’s the ‘We hate the rugby’ brigade, the ‘Martinez is a moron – but I can’t back that up’ gang, and the ‘Whelan’s filling his pockets with these transfer fees, and no I don’t want to read your arguments against that’ believers who are ruining the board.
People have different views over selections, tactics, signings, the way the club is run etc, and although I think I’m always right, I’d hate it if everyone shared that view. What better way is there to fill my sad little life than arguing with Yosser, Hindley, Tydlesley, or LMB?
If someone posts something I agree with, I’ll tell them. If they post something I don’t agree with, again I’ll tell them, and I’ll tell them why I don’t agree with it.
That’s how a forum – that is meant as a vehicle to voice opinions – works. It’s the childish element who cannot substantiate their argument or at least come back with a witty insult who are spoiling it.
Obviously all this is my opinion, and if you don’t agree with it, you can f@ck off.
Ah, but the point is people have posted opinions i.e against Martinez on here and then have been shouted down and dismissed by the same old people and in turn this puts them off posting again.
Its the way in which certain people disagree, in that any negative will not be tolerated here. If thats the case then whats the point in having a message board if people can’t vent and then discuss without being labelled a darksider?
I’m a realistic fella but if i feel we are being let down as fans on occasions why can i not state this without a barrage of abuse in return.
That said i have been quite impressed with the team lately and hope Sunderland was just a blip and we can get back to winning ways soon.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion even the Darth Moron crew…
One thing that winds me up about the people who come on here and moan about Martinez is they exactly that… all they do is moan.
No discussion of alternative tactics… Realistic players we should be looking at … actual incidents that effected the game…
And quite frankly it bores the brain out of me…
In all fairness I think one of the things personally for me which made the board a little less interesting was when Rivals shut down… without other teams to argue with certain people on here take it upon themsevles to bicker with their own fans…
Of course this is not the site’s fault and in all fairness the site itself has never looked better!!
Certain clicks do exsist on this board however I guess this is all part and parcel of small town small club syndrome and alot of people on here have been around a while… ( too long :P )
Im not a prolific poster and have been a message board lurker for years like you Haker but decided I will stick my two penny’s worth in recently against the negative posts flooding the board after a defeat.
Get involved and dont take the wind up merchants seriously because they literally have nothing better to do!
